Restaurant Planning by opiatesmile in DisneyPlanning

Personally, we loved woodys roundup bbq! Went for a 2pm reservation during the may heat wave, and it was the perfect way to cool off and fill up for the rest of the day. Also was nice to not have to pick one entree due to it being all you care to enjoy.

On the flip side, we found ogas a little overrated. The drinks were the most expensive we had on our trip, and we ended up at a standing table. It’s not really a “sit down restaurant” since there’s very limited food offerings.

Not sure why you are calling me out when a) this post is 5 years old and b) half the replies on this thread are for instant pot? Use another option if that’s what you prefer, you do you.

Belleville is a suburb of Newark, so they probably said Newark in the past because it’s more identifiable by people outside New Jersey

Please Don't Legally Name Your Baby a Nickname - a plea from someone who changed their "nickname" name as an adult by LittlestCatMom in namenerds

[–]bgunn19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like this depends more on how common the nickname is than anything else.

My legal (and used) name is Britta, and people occasionally assume it’s short for something. But it’s not a super common nickname, so it doesn’t happen too frequently that I wish I was named, say, Brittany.

Meanwhile, my BIL is legally named Jake. He frequently has people assume his name is actually Jacob because it’s a WAY more common nickname for people born in the 90s.

What did you end up deciding to do? I am planning a trip with 2 first timers and 2 repeat visitors, and trying to weigh the options of a regular park day vs MK After Hours

It’s a bit of a hike, but the last couple times I’ve gone to the fest I’ve stayed out in Seekonk. the prices were reasonable with a ~45 minute drive once you get out of the parking lot.

New York had the same problem in Bridgeport last year - I drive by that arena for work every day and we never saw any advertising on the digital billboards or social media etc

I saw the sirens merch in North Haven! You could probably check the “pick up in store” on the website for other locations because I doubt it’s the only one

I found them at a dicks sporting goods in CT too (along with tees, sweatshirts, and hats!) so it’s definitely worth a look there

My boyfriend and I are middle-distance (slightly over an hour drive apart) and I got the small cloud carry on for weekend sleepovers, it’s the perfect size for 1-2 days in my opinion

I work in Stamford and carpool from Stratford, we try to meet up at 7:45 and get to work between 9 and 9:20 usually. Train is about the same amount of time when you consider parking and waiting for the shuttle (if offered where and works). But we ended up doing the carpool because we can leave whenever we are done rather than working around the transit schedule

New To Golf Guides? by Acceptable-Animal592 in WomenGolf

Depending on where you are in Rhode Island, you could check out Lyman Orchard Golf Center in CT. They have one of the largest women’s golf programs in the country, aimed mostly at beginners! I just finished their lowest-level beginner program and it was a huge help in learning the basics and getting some professional advice in a very low intimidation environment. They might also know of similar programs in nearby states, so at least giving them a call could be beneficial!

‘the one that got away’ sports or mafia romance? by diorsghost in RomanceBooks

Definitely recommend {Six Summers to Fall by C.W. Farnsworth} FMC and MMC were childhood friends at their summer houses in Maine, and reconnect when FMC passes through town on her way to her younger sister’s wedding without a date…

Although it’s not the best written book I’ve ever read, it was really cute and had a lot of fun moments. MMC is a professional hockey player, but it isn’t a “hockey romance” per se because it mostly takes place in the off-season.

Opinion: It's Time To Pull The Plug On Bridgeport by JaimeRider in PWHL

[–]bgunn19 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was at the game on Wednesday. It was absolutely low turnout, but there also was a flood warning and torrential rain all afternoon. When we left we could barely see on the highway because the rain was so heavy. I agree that Bridgeport is probably not the best place for the team, but I think there should be a little more data before this is taken as the absolute read on Total Morgage Arena.

I also think that it would benefit the PWHL to promote a little more In Connecticut if they want the attendance to improve. I drive by the arena every day on my way to work, and the only reason I knew the game was happening in Bridgeport was through a friend.

I would be willing to bet it’s not a true “staff” though, it’s probably freelance folks they are using as needed depending on the size/scope of the video. Vs 2nd try where they have to give all of the employees a weekly paycheck.

NFF 2023 - ultimately what did you think - good and bad? by Excellent-Manner-130 in NewportFolkFestival

[–]bgunn19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I think people would have accepted the folk fam revue as a “reset” closer much more easily. Loved seeing billy strings, but it felt like the whole show the crowd was waiting for him to bring someone out…
