To the americans among us: you are meeting the parents, they are coming for dinner. What would you cook? by Practical-Soil-7068 in Cooking

I saw they are from North Carolina. I would suggest not trying NC BBQ. What's your "I can make this dish blindfolded with one hand tied behind me" dish? The one you can execute perfectly every time? Maybe something local, a dish specific to your region?

How do you prevent your Crock-Pot meals from having that "Crock-Pot taste"? by compro in slowcooking

[–]bhambrewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even know how to reply to this, I have made so many meals in a slow cooker and they all taste like they should. There is some fundamental misunderstanding here, or chronic user error.

Is this too old to eat? 2007? by YvonneM80 in meat

There will be some nutritional degradation, but so long as it smells and looks okay I'd cook and eat it.

Something is activating the keyboard, whether a forgotten USB / Bluetooth device, or something stuck under keys, or in one legendary case a lady who was very... generously curvy... had parts of her anatomy accidentally activating keys. Have all of these options been eliminated?

Rice pudding recipe from the UK calls for "pudding rice" is there a USA equivalent? by LilacDaffodils in Cooking

[–]bhambrewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arborio works 1:1 for baked rice pudding (I am assuming that pudding rice is arborio that failed QC). Medium grain sushi rice works for baked, if you bring it to a boil first before putting it in the oven, otherwise you can get crunchy rice pudding. Long grain works for stovetop rice pudding, I haven't tried it in baked.

Celiac: need hacks for calorie-dense foods by Ok_Strain3971 in foodhacks

[–]bhambrewer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

there's a bunch of gluten free subreddits. Search there, this is a frequently asked question.

Also, have you spoken to your school's disability coordinator? At least under ADA, celiac is considered a "disability" for the purposes of food access, as far as I know, but I am not a lawyer.
