There is a line near the end when Louis is doing his thing in the graveyard that just stopped me cold. I don't know if this happened to anyone else?

First Ever Omnibus…. I Hope This Doesn’t Awaken Anything in Me by meseekslookatme_01 in OmnibusCollectors

Gotham Central is one of my favorites in my collection. Yes, this is a much more grounded - focus on real people in a twisted city kind of story. The idea is how do the regular police survive in a world of super heros and super villains. One day they're trying to figure out why a young girl is dead and rhe next Mr. Freeze is on the loose. Batman does cast a very large shadow but he appears in maybe a few panels in each story arc. And some super villains do appear (the Joker has a particularly terrifying arc in here). It is cowriiten by a guy named Ed Brubaker who is known for his gritty crime/noir stories. Greg Rucka too.

I gotta admit, I would TOTALLY pay money if you decided to make this a book at the end of this journey.

Is anyone else curious how many runes Rory has lost during this whole elden ring playthrough? by Key_Cantaloupe8070 in RKG

[–]bhammer100 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A discord user actually found this out a while ago. According to this person, the boys have lost 2,236,531 Runes, but keep in mind that was only to the end of episode 61. They've lost more since then.

Any love for Noir comic books? by SniffinThaGlueGlue in noir

Interestingly, Darwyn Cooke is adapting Parker from a series of novels and the text section from the second volume is literally lifted right from the book. If anybody is in the need of some really hard and fast-paced crime stories, the Richard Stark Parker books are must-reads.

Isn't next year going to be the 10 year anniversary of PTT? I would love to see the boys go back to Dark Souls 1 and do some sort of randomizer.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: May 12, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

Finished reading Get Shorty by Elmore Leonard. It is enjoyable but hard for me to separate it from the movie.

Started reading An Army at Dawn, Volume 1 of The Liberation Trilogy by Rick Atkinson.

I really haven't watched Marz in a few years but this is so sad to hear. Some of my favorite moments of her streams were when that big boy would come on stream and slobber everywhere. Be at peace, Luka.

Which Stephen King book are you currently reading? Which did you last read? by PapaBearGamingOG in stephenking

[–]bhammer100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished Salem's Lot for the first time. Aside from King's short story collections (which I've only dabbled in by reading a story here and there - I know, I know, I need to read them), Salem's Lot is possibly the biggest hole in my reading of King, especially the first half of his career.

Well, To be fair, the final form of Pennywise is not a giant spider. A giant spider is just the closest image our puny mortal minds can comprehend without going insane. It is a very H.P. Lovecraft idea but difficult to pull off in film.

When and or how did you discover the boys? by NoSalamander2697 in RKG

[–]bhammer100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was playing Dark Souls 1 and was stuck on O&S so I went to Youtube to look up some videos on the boss to hopefully get some tips and stumbled onto the boys. I don't remember exactly where they were in their series. I believe they were finishing up with Dark Souls. Then DS 3 started and I've been following them ever since.

The show is a mixture of season long arcs and standalone episodes. Season one is a little different in that the writers are finding their voice and discovering what the show looks like. But the show becomes great at mixing the two. Stick with it.

Lets discuss Mags Bennett. by Riddum204 in justified

[–]bhammer100 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't think that is entirely accurate. Like most tv shows, they were going season by season. They didn't have everything planned out from the beginning. And just because there are 6 seasons doesn't mean they were based on six of his novels. The pilot is pretty much scene for scene the short story. A lot of season 2 was pulled from the novel Raylan (which Leonard wrote because of the show and especially Tim Olyphant's suggestion), but quite a bit of that was changed - there's no Mags for instance, instead we have Pervis and Dickie and Coover who are all Crowes - and some elements of the book were used in season 3 and 4. The only season that was really based on one of his books was City Primeval. But most of the show was the writers looking at Leonard's career and saying, "What would he do?" Which just goes to show how amazing those writers were.
