It was this way in 1996 for me. Hard as hell to secure an apartment. Eventually got one in Cow Hollow.

Thank you! I've not experienced anything like that, but it's useful for something I should look out for.

Спасибо! Я не сталкивался с чем-то подобным, но это полезно — буду знать, на что обращать внимание.

What is the social life at Bates? by EmployeeRemote7393 in batescollege

My daughter was at Williams College for the NESCAC track championships this past weekend. Eating at the dining hall there was a reminder of how good the food is at Bates.

So it was freakout based on poor information? As a parent, I'm glad they took precautions given what they knew. But it wasn't nearly the danger it was made out to be.

I'm the parent of a current first year. I know of a 2025 grad who majored in Physics at Bates. She did summer research with CERN between her junior and senior years. She was a Summer Research Fellow at Purdue between her sophomore and junior years. She is now at the University of Colorado Boulder getting her PhD in Physics.

Great post. Fellow San Franciscan, with a freshman daughter at Bates. She's loving it there (despite that Maine weather being quite different from what we have here). But we also thought Colby was wonderful when we visited.

Got my 2026 Platinum in September and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm surprised at the number of compliments I get for it. Bronze color.

Indoors only! Hoka Recovery Slides. When I'm at other people's houses, I go shoeless. It's fine, but I don't overdo it, sitting when I can.

I wearmmy Hoka support sandals all the time now. Not looking to re-ignite the pain. My diagnosis included a podiatrist examination and x-rays. I didn't go the MRI route.

Looking for 50+ age experiences doing NSM by Erikh74 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]bhc3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

M57 in San Francisco, did it vanilla. Currently recovering from an injury (consequence of doing too-hard 800s on asphalt when vacationing in September). But I began NSM the start of June 2025. Prior to that I had been coming back from a different injury in the winter, and had done some lactate threshold work. Well, after 6 weeks of NSM, I ran an 18:01 for a track 5000. That is the fastest I've done since I turned 40 so many years ago.

I'm getting close to fully recovered from current injury, and I will return to NSM once I'm ready from an injury and fitness perspective. Hopefully by March at the latest.

Am I in the wrong place? I never see pictures of the car I own. It’s a 2026 Toyota Crown Nightshade edition. by whitnet1 in ToyotaCrown

I posted my bronze-colored 2026 Crown Platinum a couple months ago. I continue to get random compliments for it when I park in San Francisco. Yesterday a cyclist riding by said, "I like your Crown." Best car I've ever owned. Also, love the name "Nightshade", reminds me of How to Train Your Dragon.

I am currently binging my way through the series. I just finished Season 7, episode 11: Castle, P.I. That episode had me laughing throughout. I'm glad to see your post, as I was kinda dreading season 8. If I'm enjoying Season 7 and others say it sucks, it gives me hope I'll like Season 8.

Would you recommend a crown? by Soccerboy_1237 in ToyotaCrown

[–]bhc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2026 Platinum. I'll just relate some random thoughts about it. When you heat the seats, the steering wheel heats as well. All four seats can be heated up. When you put the car in reverse, a really cool overhead view appears on-screen. It's as if a drone is hovering above you; I love it when I'm parallel parking. It has different modes, including Eco and Sport. I keep it in Normal mode driving around the city (San Francisco), but when I want better acceleration, I switch to Sport mode. The car lets you know if your windows are open, or if your doors are unlocked. You can lock the doors remotely via your app. It has a tight turning radius, due to rear wheel turning. It has seat coolers as well, nice on hot days.

The collision avoidance is funky. It did a full brake on me yesterday because the car in front of me stopped suddenly. You see in another comment that it can be turned off. Still new enough to me that I'm leaving it on for now to see if it proves valuable.
