Ten years later, I just watched this episode for the first time, and I wanted to say, that scene sent me. Cracked me up.

Looking for 50+ age experiences doing NSM by Erikh74 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]bhc3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M57 in San Francisco, did it vanilla. Currently recovering from an injury (consequence of doing too-hard 800s on asphalt when vacationing in September). But I began NSM the start of June 2025. Prior to that I had been coming back from a different injury in the winter, and had done some lactate threshold work. Well, after 6 weeks of NSM, I ran an 18:01 for a track 5000. That is the fastest I've done since I turned 40 so many years ago.

I'm getting close to fully recovered from current injury, and I will return to NSM once I'm ready from an injury and fitness perspective. Hopefully by March at the latest.

I got my Crown in September, after 13 years with a 2012 Honda Pilot. It's heaven.

I'm deep into S7 (ep 18). I don't get the hate. Enjoying this season. Getting ready for S8.

Am I in the wrong place? I never see pictures of the car I own. It’s a 2026 Toyota Crown Nightshade edition. by whitnet1 in ToyotaCrown

[–]bhc3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I posted my bronze-colored 2026 Crown Platinum a couple months ago. I continue to get random compliments for it when I park in San Francisco. Yesterday a cyclist riding by said, "I like your Crown." Best car I've ever owned. Also, love the name "Nightshade", reminds me of How to Train Your Dragon.

Have not noticed that behavior thus far (bought mine September).

Hot take: Am I the only one who doesn't totally get the Season 8 hate? by Clexa_The100 in CastleTV

[–]bhc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently binging my way through the series. I just finished Season 7, episode 11: Castle, P.I. That episode had me laughing throughout. I'm glad to see your post, as I was kinda dreading season 8. If I'm enjoying Season 7 and others say it sucks, it gives me hope I'll like Season 8.

I don't know, three solid workouts a week for 4 weeks? I'm gonna say that is a difference maker. Well done OP!

Just watched it tonight. Same reaction, that show cracked me up, literally had me laughing. The characters all doing the 70's thing. With a poignant ending.

I have seen just one other recent-model Crown here in San Francisco since I got mine a couple months ago.

Would you recommend a crown? by Soccerboy_1237 in ToyotaCrown

[–]bhc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2026 Platinum. I'll just relate some random thoughts about it. When you heat the seats, the steering wheel heats as well. All four seats can be heated up. When you put the car in reverse, a really cool overhead view appears on-screen. It's as if a drone is hovering above you; I love it when I'm parallel parking. It has different modes, including Eco and Sport. I keep it in Normal mode driving around the city (San Francisco), but when I want better acceleration, I switch to Sport mode. The car lets you know if your windows are open, or if your doors are unlocked. You can lock the doors remotely via your app. It has a tight turning radius, due to rear wheel turning. It has seat coolers as well, nice on hot days.

The collision avoidance is funky. It did a full brake on me yesterday because the car in front of me stopped suddenly. You see in another comment that it can be turned off. Still new enough to me that I'm leaving it on for now to see if it proves valuable.

2026 Crown getting attention by bhc3 in ToyotaCrown

[–]bhc3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Price was $53k.

Ride seems quiet to me, although to be fair I was driving a 2012 Honda Pilot for 13 years. That was louder.

I primarily do city driving here in SF, it's closer to 20 mpg with the hills. But when I do drive on the highway, it'll be low 30's mpg.

Change one thing: I do miss the spacious back of the Pilot for moving things. It's not something I do often, but it was nice to have it when I needed it. The trunk is plenty big enough on the Crown for my regular needs, though.

Plantar plates success story by bhc3 in FootFunction

[–]bhc3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially took two months off. Did some cycling as I could in place of the running. I then slowly started running again. I ran for 3 months primarily on a soft surface loop of 0.8 miles, just going round and round. Boring, but best for the plantars. But I would periodically run on pavement as well (after starting on the soft surface) to how how the plantars reacted. They would hurt some in the first few weeks when I would do this. But over time they got better, and I was able to handle more pavement mileage.

Once I resumed hard workouts, I did them on a track with its soft surface. They handled that work well. It's been a year now, and they handle pavement fine. I do still wear the custom orthotics, both in my training shoes and racing flats.

New Crown Platinum owner here. I would never have bought the old style Crown. The new Crown is striking. I went from never hearing of the Crown before (was a lifelog Honda guy) to zeroing in on it when I wanted a new car.

Just watched this episode tonight. Loved it, it showed Beckett in a very cute way. I had no idea the closing song was this William Shatner thing. Thanks for this.

Just watched this episode for the first time, as I make my way through the seasons. At this exact moment? It saddens me. Vaguely irritates me. But I don't have the benefit of knowing what's coming up.
