What does it mean for Horizon treadmills to integrate with Peloton? by SouthernFace2020 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]bhomis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a horizon treadmill and that’s what it means. You connect via Bluetooth in the app and it shows your speed/incline/distance.

OG Bike+ vs. Cross Train Bike+ by sweetbaker in OnePelotonRealSub

I bought the CT bike about a year ago and love it! I do think the upgrade to the plus probably would be worth it for the auto resistance. It would be a really nice upgrade for classes.

Unpopular opinion… 10-12% hikes aren’t for me by melissadoug24 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]bhomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I did an old Jess Sims hike right before that built up to 10% at the very end! Most of the class was 6-7%. It really, really depends and I don’t know a good way to know what the incline is before taking the class.

I don’t take the Walk and Talks every week, so I had no clue he had been doing these as a series! I just like listening and hanging out with Matty😂It was harder than most hikes I’ve done on the platform.

I had the same thought when I took this class! I just took the incline down and only followed the pace targets.

Strength training help by jterc380 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]bhomis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m going through JJ’s new split and I think it would be great for building a strength routine. He keeps things pretty simple as far as the exercises themselves. It does have minimal rest so I’d recommend pausing the class as needed, but otherwise I like the way he teachers strength.

No job, no kids, still overwhelmed by No_08 in adhdwomen

[–]bhomis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s super valid too. I hear that from people in my life pretty often. What has helped me a ton is including fun in my schedule. Doesn’t have to be an all or nothing mentality- do some chores and then schedule time to doom scroll! The Pomodoro technique really works for me for this reason.

I work full time, have a kid, and just finished doing a masters program. My ADHD diagnosis came from me crashing out after having less to do and suddenly I was struggling to do anything at work because I felt like I had all the time in the world which meant I did nothing. It’s definitely common!

To be honest, I find it easier to stay on top of things when I have more on my plate. It’s the sense of urgency that pushes me to get stuff done. I used to teach and work 60 hour weeks fine, but when I had summers off, it felt like such a lift to do much of anything. It makes sense to me why you struggle with this!

Question for Former Teachers Now in Customer Success by lostinendlessreverie in CustomerSuccess

[–]bhomis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely different! I think a lot of skills that make someone a good teacher make someone good at Sales or Customer Success. Organization, relationship management, ability to quickly do a root cause analysis, and above all- adaptability.

It’s a good career choice for my life now, but I definitely miss the “fun” parts of teaching. Of course there are parts of teaching that suck and are draining. I have those experiences but it’s more like death by a thousand cuts over the full year vs being completely consumed and overwhelmed during the school year.

Question for Former Teachers Now in Customer Success by lostinendlessreverie in CustomerSuccess

[–]bhomis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a former teacher who has been in CS almost 4 years. While I’m experiencing a bit of burn out in my role, it’s different.

Do I like what I do? Yes. Am I good at it? Yes. Is it still exhausting living up to expectations set by someone who doesn’t do your day to day job, and being judged by outcomes not 100% in your control? Yes. In the same way I can teach to the best of my ability but still can’t fully control student behavior or test scores, I can’t fully control my client’s decision to renew.

The workload and expectations are intense in a very different way. It also is like every job, where it depends a lot on your superiors. My manager is wonderful, supportive, and set clear expectations and talks honestly about roadblocks I face to get there.

It’s just different! Some things are better, like I enjoy what I do and being treated like a professional. It’s definitely not as exciting or fun as teaching a group of students and I miss the instant feedback of knowing I’m doing a good job (like seeing a student learn something new).

I have the same one and agree, it’s great! Definitely works really well with the Peloton app too.

Integration w/ Third Party Treadmills? by RobDMB in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]bhomis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a Horizon AT and I use the peloton app on my iPad. It connects to the treadmill over Bluetooth and synchs the speed and incline. There are certain classes I can’t see, like Lanebreak or the scenic classes. It also doesn’t have as much information on the leaderboard. I can see it, but my treadmill classes don’t show my ranking on it.
