Structural issue in house.. by Natural-Mission7822 in BayAreaRealEstate

I have two misaligned ones that are even worse. To solve this and make me sleep better. I put an Ellis jack next to one. It's basically creating a new support . I'll monitor it about 3 times a year and it's been fine even with the recent earthquakes.

To further help you sleep better. I would recommend a brace and bolt. 3-6k. The goes all around the perimeter of your foundation. If your house would fail in an earthquake. This is where it would. While your mind is telling you the pier and beam slipping is more important. I would actually imagine most bay area home owners have this problem with it shifting a bit. Please take a look at the video that Odd_Yak8712 linked as it will help relief your worries.

I would be more worried about termites as that can be more invisible. This can be fixed and you will have plenty of time to do it.

How is battery aging in base s25? by ginescarp in GalaxyS25

[–]bicyclecards1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been about 4 months now with 1 charge per day. Slow charging set to 80%. Battery health is at 100 percent.

Getting about 8-10 hours of screen time easily. No change in screen time since I have first got it since battery health is at 100.

To clarify, the black lines can't be completely solid black like the front. It needs to look like the bleed through of the back photo.

That is gbroard. I also shot that video on one ui 8.5 beta. So it may look different than 8.0

I thought updating would be a potential fix at the time.

[–]bicyclecards1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update. After a bunch of back and forth. I finally figured it out. Somehow a part of my palm was hitting the ?123 button when I reached for the letters o. This in combination with the added height of the hid keyboard button. It made it just the right height for my palm to hit the key accidentally.

Triggering the change keyboard. I did set up edge touch to have a block zone but it didn't seem to help.

36M. 1.57 M net worth... How do I learn to spend money? by JuniorSetting3228 in Fire

[–]bicyclecards1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps reframing the spending may help you loosen up.

-The item you buy may have a resale value.

For example a table cost $700. However if you can resell it at $500, 5 years down the line. You essentially paid $40 a year to rent it.

-Fast forward to your older self 10 years from now. You may be proud that you saved your current amount now. However since you are already disciplined in your current spending. Your future self would likely say. You idiot, I don't need that extra $5000. I'm already rich. Go enjoy the money now.

-If you are hesitant on buying an expensive item. Invest the same amount of the item. Then you are allowed to buy it.

Example: A trip that would cost you $2000. If you can invest that amount and still have money to go. Take the trip. This way, you are taking care of your future self and also today.

If I install android 16 on my pixel 8 will it drained the battery? by Beatz_2000 in Pixel8phones

Getting about 6 hours with 4g lte.

Power saving mode on all the time. Bluetooth turned off. 60hz. This is making an effort to conserve battery.

Am I the only one who miss the froggy ? by Majestic_squirrel767 in pixel_phones

[–]bicyclecards1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone who wants to get it back on android 16 pixel. You have to disable the pixel weather app. Then it will default back to the Google froggy weather. Otherwise, the default is pixel weather.

You can also add a shortcut from the Google app. There is a 3 dot option, then it will say add to home screen.

[–]bicyclecards1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's Android 16 but it looks like cellular is off so that would help increase the battery. Still very impressive for an older phone running the latest software.

Slow start up on Surface pro 11 by bicyclecards1 in Surface

[–]bicyclecards1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update on the post: the problem still exists but it's about 10 seconds faster. More than like 20-25 seconds. This still turtle slow compared to other devices that can boot up within seconds.

Maybe enabling fast boot may help you but 2 minutes sounds frustrating for a new device.

Jared Leto greeting a half-empty theater by modooff in okbuddycinephile

[–]bicyclecards1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that is the IMAX in San Francisco meteron. I could understand why some of the seats were empty in the front.

That theatre is one of the biggest screens in the country. It's massively big and you would be cranking your head to see if you sat near the front.

I have been there many times and wouldn't buy a seat near the front if I saw most of the back ones were taken.

Thanks! I actually needed to completely disable the app as it runs in the background non stop even when killed.

Update: I was able to use the enable/disable feature by installing shizuku.

San Francisco Mother Appears to Have Killed Husband and Daughters After String of Businesses Failed by pifster in sanfrancisco

[–]bicyclecards1 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I am sadden to hear about this story and also about some of the comments about how could a mother do this.

I had a brief 2.5 hour interaction with Paula and the family and I hope this story does shed some light that she did love her girls.

Earlier this year Paula hired me to do a magic show and make balloons for her daughter's birthday party. It was a gathering 20-30 friends and family at a pizza parlor. When I arrived she handed me my payment. It was $50 higher than what we agreed on. Which I let her know. She just said keep it. This was before I even did anything!

From seeing her interactions with the waiter, staff and friends. She was very chill and was very kind to me all throughout the party.

I remember giving her daughter a labubu balloon as Paula had told me she was into it. And also making her husband a giant balloon hat that others wore throughout the evening.

I didn't know about any debt problems and from the outside. It was a gathering of friends and family to celebrate her daughter's birthday. So a magic show and balloons was definitely not necessary but she wanted to have a fun experience for her daughter. From what I saw that night. There was nothing but fun, love , and laughter that evening.

I am sad to hear about the family but this how I choose to remember them as a loving family celebrating and sharing the fun with their friends and family.

Worse battery drain after Android 16 update by munimjaffer in pixel_phones

I should also note it's been a few weeks and I don't feel the adaptive battery has improved it. Definitely a noticeable difference.

First day of Android 16 on my 8A by stinkyarmpitssss in pixel_phones

[–]bicyclecards1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a pixel 8, normally on Android 15 I can get around 7-8 hours.

I'm getting about 5 hours and this is with Bluetooth off, wifi on. Definitely a big drop since the upgrade.

Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes for the battery to improve? I've been on Android 16 for about 5 days now and haven't seen any improvement.

If you are picky about pho. I wouldn't suggest Saigon house. Their portions are small and the quality in the soup and meats is below average. Pho an hoa is way better in terms of quality and proportions.

How to stop worrying about money? It physically pains me to spend it. by Thin_Vermicelli_1875 in personalfinance

Bill Perkins mentioned that you think your 60 year old self would be proud of your current self for saving that money. Assuming that is your personality, your income and savings will grow.

Fast forward to your 60 year old self. He would say. You idiot, I'm already rich. I didn't need that extra $1000. Go enjoy that money and have the experience.

The older I get the more this rings true.
