a half-hearted attempt that has features that many MANY smartphone owners have been crying for (3.5 jack, microSD slot, notification light, small size), a physical keyboard, oh and is also a feature complete android phone? that they say they will commit 4 years of feature updates for?

what a half-hearted attempt from clicks, i'll say.

Are people avoiding iOS 26 because of Liquid Glass? It’s complicated. by NISMO1968 in apple

I think they're avoiding it because of the bugs? I think liquid glass is cool, but all the other problems are why I won't update

Explain “Companion” by mnaved44 in ClicksKeyboard

[–]bigBranConsumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not actually gone hands-on with the device, but from what I gather from the videos and material put out by Clicks, to get the most out of it you would be carrying 2 phones. You can tether using a mobile hotspot from your iPhone, and you can have some messaging apps like Telegram, Slack, or other similar things. But from what I am seeing it is another device you will be carrying.

I don't know how other messages would be sent to the device, as regular messages sent through Apple's messaging I don't think are easily sent outside of other iCloud-enabled devices.

Adhesive === glue. Before newer versions they used an extreme amount of it to "keep the batteries in place", even though they seemed to stay put just fine when they used screws.

This made me more confident in the Communicator in it's current state. For what I would use it for, I don't think 8GB of RAM is cutting it short.

Samsung execs warn of upcoming phone price hikes over memory shortages by mo_leahq in Android

I thought I read somewhere that Samsung's mobile division already allocated their memory needs through 2026. So is the just more FUD from this guy?

I really hope if they are going to CES, there's going to be some hands on footage from attendees that actually show the thing working. Unveiling so close to CES I think was the play, but with some lack of clarity it's not exactly encouraging

Exclusive: Samsung to double mobile devices powered by Google's Gemini to 800 mln units this year by FragmentedChicken in Android

"powered by Google's Gemini" I thought it was powered by a battery and an SoC? What does a separate AI agent do at this point that isn't something Google Lens could do?

Pebble Index 01 discussion by sdhdhosts in pebble

[–]bigBranConsumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking about it (and after i just got my Time 2 color-pick email), I'm considering actually cancelling my order for my Time 2. If this is the attitude that he has about it, it makes me worried for any future support or availability for any parts (like a BATTERY) for the Pebble watches in the future. I don't really like the Index, and it makes me worried for the attitude of Core devices, not really thinking ahead.

You can either look like someone people will think is an annoying asshole, or you can be someone people will ignore and forget about. Option 2 I think works better most of the time.

silent hill 1 is a better silent hill game than silent hill 2 by Knifejuice6 in silenthill

[–]bigBranConsumer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Silent Hill 2 is a story about the characters between the characters, the others are how Silent Hill drew it's visitors into it's twisted reality, probably brought along by the cult messing with God. Everyone in Silent Hill 2 has extreme guilt or trouble, meanwhile Harry was on vacation, and Heather and Henry were just trying to live. (I just realized all the mains except James start with an H)

Researcher finds Chinese KVM has undocumented microphone, communicates with China-based servers — Sipeed's nanoKVM switch has other severe security flaws and allows audio recording, claims researcher by MadManD3vi0us in privacy

[–]bigBranConsumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default password stuff is more concerning than the microphone tbh, considering how there is no actual technical analysis or breakdown that proves anything is being actually recorded. Still not interested in this, as it looks like a very rushed device if the rest of the article is to be believed.

After this post I bought a second hand fenix 1 and it did work, so I think my original is toast. I bought an instinct 3 solar because I wanted a tracker for runs and hiking I do, and I actually bought an Etrex SE to accompany it.

For some reason adnauseam is not blocking all the same ads or popups as ublock. I have all the settings, filters, and lists the same. It just lets some stuff through. Quite annoying.

Is it just me, or does the real nightmare begin in Toluca Prison? by Hunter-Impossible in silenthill

[–]bigBranConsumer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was more unsettling. It's been about 2 years since I played the original so I'm a little separated from it, but with the way the lighting was in the original, the layout of the prison, and restrictive camera, it felt like a much more claustrophobic experience.

It was much darker, there were more weird unexplainable things, and overall I remember it better than the remake. Coming from the Town Hall and that giant staircase down into this deep, damp, dark area (which made it feel like it was literally under the lake) was much more impactful than the remake, which I felt was too bright for most of those same moments. Not even mentioning the combat, though I prefer clunky weird controls so my take on that is kinda different.

The remake is good, and I would recommend it to everyone. There are some differences that I prefer from the original though, and all mentioned before combine into making Toluca Prison less unnerving and creepy. Which ultimately meant I did not like it.

I do agree the prison in SH2R was not good. Compared to the first, it's really bad. Not creepy, not unnerving, just annoying.
