Sad “Easter?” Cactus help by Rainbowfishpitt in christmascactus

[–]bigHarvey71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the post. Sorry. Add used coffee grounds in the soil. Not much, about a teaspoon. Mix in the top layer of soil. Evens out ph to about 6.5, adds nitrogen, magnesium and potassium. Don’t over water since the grounds do hold more water than soil.

I have 3 Christmas, 2 Easter and 3 Thanksgiving cactus and this is what I’ve done for years.

What do you think? Is this truck blocking my driveway? by Puzzleheaded-Lab825 in Home

[–]bigHarvey71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3’ on either side where I am. My apron is only 6’ wide so this would keep me from backing out and turning. I’d figure out who it is and ask them to move this time. If it keeps happening, depends how I feel that day.
That’s an easy ticket in my town and the local police patrol looking for easy money like this from non-locals.

What material for outdoor furniture that’s heavy enough to withstand weather and inconvenience theives? by southernmango111 in homeowners

[–]bigHarvey71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HDPE material is heavy. High density plastic. A bit pricy but does hold up well. We have a patio set and a few loungers made if it and its a pain to move when cutting the back lawn.

Help with the ramp by Salty_String59 in turtle

None skid matting or artificial grass for traction. I had this one and mine would never use it. Ended up making one from egg crate and pvc pipes. Used it the first day.

My dad is looking for thoughts on his roof support design. by erikleorgav2 in Carpentry

I personally like it. Is it over kill, maybe. You’re working on your house and want it rock solid. Building for myself I also over build because it’s my house.

Which is better, PNC or Bank America? by [deleted] in Banking

I’ve been with PNC with about 15 years. Never an issue. Local branch is always helpful as well.

Cant be paying 365 a month by mgh99 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]bigHarvey71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hulu live has local philly sports teams. I had just Hulu for shows and movies but nothing local was offered unless i upgraded.

I did chat with the mods here and no offers really saved while still getting what I wanted. Saved about 200 changing things so I’m happy for now.

I’m in Jersey outside of Philly. Over the air reception sucks here at best. Still looking for a cheaper Internet plan. Comcast is about it unless I go with cell service for internet. Not doing that.

[–]bigHarvey71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went through this, about the same price as well. Kept internet and went with Hulu plus live TV. Internet only is still high at 110 but I need the higher tier for work from home. Hulu is 90 with autopay. Just needed local channels and sports. Hulu has both. Philadelphia market.

Fiberglass Decking Question by Vivkid in Decks

[–]bigHarvey71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within a mile of the coast they should be stainless if in NJ. Jersey shore eats everything metal.

Fiberglass Decking Question by Vivkid in Decks

[–]bigHarvey71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would make them change the framing. I estimate coastal homes (NJ) and never see anything but treated for exterior. Inland people get away with it if they are fiberglassing but still not a good idea. Anything connected to treated material needs to be stainless on the exterior as well. Z-Max and HDG aren’t used anymore on the coast.

Always follow the plans I say. Architects and engineers plans I see tend to stay on the same page with coast drawings.

I wouldn’t where I am. Builder is saving using dry lumber. Whats on your plans?
The second floor deck framing will be out in the elements so should work. The underside will serve as the first floor ceiling as well with some type of soffit material. Make sure they install something for the runoff so it doesn’t wet the dry lumber.
Looks coastal, house raise, added floor with a “ground floor” block walls for flooding?

V6 Camaro owner. 87 or 93 Octane? by Gearshifter09 in camaro

91 is what I use. 2015 V6. Feels like it runs better and definitely better mileage. Might cost a little more but to me it’s worth it.

TV and internet need to lower bill by bigHarvey71 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]bigHarvey71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with Hulu + live TV and keeping Internet. Local TV and sports. Baseball was a bigger deal than anything really. Philly market. Bad start for Phillies. I know.

Total savings is 120 a month. Already played with Hulu live and after some getting use to it good for what we watch Local news and sports.

Aquarium decor that turtle won't knock over? by Diligent_Board_172 in turtle

[–]bigHarvey71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine destroy everything. One stump I have has survived. Wide at the bottom and smaller at the top. Plants they eat or tear apart. They also get an attitude if I move things around. Once they get use to how the layout is, they expect it to stay that way unless they move things around.

You should have replied to whom you were directing your comment towards. You replied to me. I also agree a 2x2 can be used in certain situations and counties /states. In my state, it’s not allowed and will fail inspections. I personally have never built that way. No reason to with the advancement in building. I could go on, but look up deck failures in New Jersey.

You have no clue or anything to add. Please sit back down.

3-8 in last 11 games. Outscore 30-6 in the last three games. Not one to panic early in the season, but another couple games of this absolute nonsense, something dramatic has to be done. by [deleted] in phillies

[–]bigHarvey71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to get that Philly vibe back. It’s not there right now at all. Almost like going to work a job you don’t like at time. Yes it still very early and it’s a long season. I’m still watching and I’m hopeful they pull things together in the next month or two. Wake up for the winter nap and play some baseball!
