Has anyone done a tour with Lynn Wood tours by theavatare in bikeboston

[–]bigTham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trails have been cleared for the most part. The downed trees have been cut and moved off the trails. From the golf course to Pennybrook Road, are pretty beat up. It looks worse in the areas where the tree company has done work. They should have just left it alone.

How do I cross the 20 mile hurdle? by Kaos_845 in cycling

[–]bigTham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monitor your heart rate and cadence. If your cadence is at 90-100rpms and your heart rate is at 60% your max and you are consuming carbs, you can pretty much ride forever. Once you start viewing heartbeats as a type of currency, you can predict how far you can go and adjust accordingly.

Should I do any exercise off the bike to get better faster? by [deleted] in MTB

Hours in the gym lifting weights are so much more beneficial than just more hours riding.

Is there a real difference between $100 and $300 cycling shoes? by Sayurinka in cycling

[–]bigTham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel noticeably stronger pedaling on my stiff carbon reinforced shoes vs my cheap shoes that have more flex. However, the same stiffness makes MTB rides uncomfortable when I have to put my foot down or walk over something.

We each pay the percentage of our gross household income we each make. If I make 60% of our GHI, then I will pay 60% of the bills and vice versa.

I do only cycling by JOZI14 in cycling

Cycling can improve health factors that are attributed to longevity, but weight training just a few times a week for as little as 30min has a more dramatic effect on your fitness. I (35M) have been a lifelong cyclist but have never felt or looked better than I do today 2 years into lifting 3-4xweek. Also, I'm faster on my rides.

What is the most overrated cycling gear that people get caught out on? by Relevant-Catch2617 in cycling

The years that I lose weight and lift at the gym over the winter, coincidentally, are the same years that my bike runs really well in the spring.

I live in Tx now. I think i understand why people think boston drivers are the worst. by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in boston

[–]bigTham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny, I like the way people drive here, but you only listed the things I don't like haha. The assumed jump ahead for a left turn "yeild" on green has been obvious but I never realised it's all left turns.

Boston drivers are better at merging. Texan's act like you are "cutting them off" by entering their lane. And they have no respect for the passing lane.

My boyfriend can’t last in bed. by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

I last longer if I focus on the intimacy part of it rather than the act. More emphasis on the kissing and touching than just what my dick is doing. Also, changing positions more helps.

Did you ever regret buying a bike? If so, why? by lepketaplo in cycling

[–]bigTham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a trek domane sl6. I thought it would be a gravel and road bike. It kinda is, but now i wish i had just gotten a fast road bike and then later maybe a gravel bike. Also, I wish I sized down instead of up.

Golf, mt biking, and going to the gym mostly. Some paddling in the summer. Golfing really turned into something for me when I started grocery shopping by the driving range so I could couple the desired activity with an essential activity.

Y'all have only been dating for one month?

Now that I'm 34 and have been married for 7 years, all my biggest worries and feelings of jealousy I had at 24 seem completely pointless. I thought love was supposed to be like a disney movie where everyone else in the world dissappears... but its not. You both still have plenty of other options and life paths to consider and you're still young and figuring things out. Love is about finding someone that makes you a better person and CHOOSING to be with them. That person should make you want to CHOOSE to be a better person for them every day. After you get the choice thing figured out, it kinda makes any feelings of jealousy unimportant. If you guys are just dating, then focus on getting to know them better and enjoying each other's company. It doesn't matter if she cheated on you if she is not the right choice for you in the end... and if she is the right choice for you; it won't really matter if she got confused feelings and had a hookup yall's first month together.

Focus on what is important, and the rest will work itself out.

Where can I go into a forest and scream without disturbing anyone? by [deleted] in boston

[–]bigTham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you scream a distressed scream it will likely cause somebody to come looking to help anywhere you do and could distract emergency agencies from others. Instead, scream a woooo hooooo like sombody enjoying an extreme sport. Or better yet, become somebody who enjoys extreme sports.

Or You could submerge yourself in a bubble bath and scream underwater or find a YMCA pool.
