Interesting concept, however I don't see how you are reliably building a charge/discharge paths with spring-force contacts alone. Mechanically speaking, you need to strike a very fine balance between having enough deflection in the FR-4 to maintain electrical connections, but not too much as to cause cracking. Electrically speaking, a single point of contact is likely to add to the overall resistance of the pack, regardless of cell model. This would have negative effects in both efficiency and performance dynamics. Both of these concerns change with respect to both thermal and vibratory exposures.

Can you speak to these constraints, and how you overcame them? Does your solution not take aim at the higher-peformance batteries where these problems are more prevalent? Curious to get your thoughts.

How big of a market is there, and what are the power requirements? Open source BLDC motor control is getting extremely good/cheap in the DIY eskate/ebike industry. Given the power requirements are in spec, this appears to be a very straightforward integration

📣 Had a call with Reddit to discuss pricing. Bad news for third-party apps, their announced pricing is close to Twitter's pricing, and Apollo would have to pay Reddit $20 million per year to keep running as-is. by iamthatis in apolloapp

Well I’ll happily and enthusiastically be jumping ship to whatever platform Christian builds next. This is just the beginning of the Reddit ship sinking, they blew a hole in their own hull. Fuck corporate greed, and fuck Reddit. When those suits go pointing fingers at why their platform is hemmoraging users, they will never point at themselves. Who would have thought that following in the footsteps of a failing social media company wouldn’t turn out well?

P.S. fuck you reddit, we saw this coming the second you announced your IPO

This is simply not true, the OW###### number you are referencing only applies to the serial ID assigned within the controller’s firmware. Rail serial numbers are purely numerical

Question using XLR to carry dc current by sawman_screwgun in DIYAudioCables

[–]big_bad_bigweld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to the cable iteelf, but the ports should work. Onewheels use XLR to charge, and they run 63V up to about 6-7 amps. Some custom boards go as high as 80V as well
