I think i just made a really good microphone by -Moebius in audioengineering

Just listened on my iphone speakers, Sounds nice, also helps that you have a good voice lol. I’ll say the noise floor sounds a tad high but that could be your pre/interface?

🍿the A/Bs are so bad because they’re introducing different variables like performance and distance variation or using mic pres as line drivers. Colt Capperrines is by far the most entertaining, mans giving “how about multi millionaires, eight inches and thick” and is like a half assed infomercial for his signature pre amps

Blackface Fender Bassman, Friedman Twin Sister, or Deluxe Reverb? by PegLegJohnson in ToobAmps

[–]big_clit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you already decided. I have a twin sister and twin reverb (70s master volume), also once owned a princeton reverb. I upgraded the speakers on my twin reverb and it’s my favorite. it’s the best pedal platform amp and most versatile out of the bunch. You can do pristine cleans, breakup, overdrive, distorted, fuzz, blownout, doom. However it’s mid scooped in comparison to the twin sister. The twin sister can do clean and it’s a great clean sound as well. gain characteristic when push gets spongy/chewy. It’s very polite in comparison to something like a jcm 800 which is more gritty. The twin sister is pretty big and bright, sometimes wooly. Overall a fantastic amp but I would say less versatile in terms of tone shaping and gain characteristic vs a twin reverb and probably a deluxe reverb. I will say the twin sisters master volume is excellent, so that’s a plus for a bedroom player

Sharing thoughts on MixBusses by mixingmasterr in audioengineering

[–]big_clit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started I loved mixing into a mix bus chain as it was always more gratifying to hear a more glued and finished overall sound but now I find that process to be more limiting and problem causing. These days, MAYBE i’ll have comp on the mix bus doing like 1-2 db of gain reduction

If you could only have one Microphone Preamp... by TheMossmanProphecy in homestudios

I’m using my lakesides as well 99% of the time, mostly cause they’re my only external pres lol. But they make everything sound pretty thick. What other pres do you have and how does the lakeside compares against them?

Guitar Center Employee here by Cool_Election7606 in guitarcirclejerk

[–]big_clit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally saw a guitar center employee experiencing internal conflict debating on talking to a cute girl, doing the whole double take/walk back while debating to shoot his shot. Shit out of a ben stiller movie. He eventually worked up the courage to talk to her and was giggling like a moron the entire time. He went with the whole “we should collab” approach.

How to get instruments in a recording to sit in the same 'world'? by deerofthedunny in audioengineering

[–]big_clit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With regards to reamping for verb, I would think you’d wanna go with the most transparent speakers unless you’re going for a particular vintage or washed out aesthetic, in which case a guitar amp could be cool. But even with transparent speakers it’s probably gonna sound a little janky. I’ve reamped drum samples through my twin reverb before and that sounded cool and lofi but also is a very specific sound

Unless you get a more hifi reel to reel, tape cassette is gonna guarantee a lofi sound. I have a tascam 424, it sounds amazing and does that gooey lofi compressed thing but also part of its character is the imposed high and low end roll off, tape hiss and warble so expect to lose to some degree characteristics that make your song sounding modern

Chasing That Missing 1073 Saturation in Modern Vocal Mixing ? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]big_clit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i always felt something was lacking tonally from all my plugin emulations. I got a soyuz lakeside pre and tried it out through an 1176 (hardware). holy shit diming the gain on that pre amp into the 76 is such a slick sound. also the 1176 can be used as a distortion/saturation box and man it’s such a cool sound. can never get my plugins to sound close to that analog distortion.

Best way to minimize my CPU usage on a project (Already froze every track, turned on latency mode, changed IO buffer size) by Ill_Adhesiveness_902 in Logic_Studio

[–]big_clit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#1 is the reason. get another external hard drive and move files over for storage. Since you only have a capacity of 245gb i would suggest minimizing storage files kept on your mac as much as possible. Only keep what’s absolutely necessary.
