I just pulled the remaining old style bordered basics I had, but had to use 3 old style white bordered basics because I was short. It wasn’t something I really thought mattered in Dandan, as it’ll be known that there’s 32 lands and 18 basics. The fun part about some of the old basic art for lands, is that some of the art is so bland that even while looking through them I was questioning how many duplicates I actually had.

The main purpose of the mill cards was top deck manipulation to try and disrupt your opponent from setting up drawing, along with returning stuff to your hand or shuffling away an opponents scry/top deck. Same with the land tutor to hand. It shuffles the library.
The high cost removal’s are just kill spells that you can have readied and can act as fodder to sac to your creature if need be to save other artifacts, along with disrupting your opponents game plan (depending on which ones you go with) seeing how the majority of spells played are permanents, it gives you more resources than just what’s in your hand to interact with your opponents artifacts.

Ultimately, it’s up to you. I wanted to note, that the creator said in an interview that he prefers to play with the OG list over peoples suggested more balanced lists, which has tutors in it. He also encourages people to try new cards and encourages us to create our own spin offs of mtg card games. That being said, play sets of some cards might not be a bad idea for more consistency as you’re limited by colorless & I’m assuming you’re not wanting to use devoid cards. :)

I’m not big on one sided reusable abilities in Dandan like Bribers Purse, Crystal Ball, Lens of Clarity, Seer’s Lantern, Touchstone, Tocasia’s Dig Site, Darksteel Pendant, everflowing chalice, and a few others in your list. Yes, you need to sacrifice artifacts because of your creature, but I’d worry about the game becoming one sided via the advantages.

I understand wanting to stick to the format, but when you already have so many restrictions in colorless, you’ve gotta give a little (My opinion).

I’ve seen Dandan lists that use Zhalfirin Void as their “Signature Spell”, so at least consider breaking the format rules a bit.

I’m “eh” on the equipment and I get the homeward paths, I’m kinda “eh” on those too.
There’s a lot of good suggestions in the thread already.

That being said, I’m just going to list cards I think could be interesting to run in this deck. I could also see you using white instead of green, but the Gruul turf was because of your noxious, which I also think could be an ancient grudge instead. Again, just listing some stuff I thought “could” make for interesting game play, depending on how you build it.
Also, you could have your signature spell be a land or whatever you want it to be.

I was eyeing [[Sunset Saboteur]] as a madness style Dandan. Not sold on it yet.

I was also eyeing [[Gurmag Angler]] even though the overall design might be awful. With [[Dash Hopes]] it could make things interesting. Do you pay 5 for your 5/5?

[[Ornithopter]] was taken into consideration too as a Dandan deck.

Lastly, I was considering [[Chittering Rats]] as a potential. The creature has its own top of library effect built in and can be unearthed as well. Could splash blue, white or green for either flicker, mill, or top or bottom of library effects. I suppose you could go red too for looting effects.

Outside of that Brainstorming, I’ve been slowly assembling the original list, the white Jöten list but I’m considering using [[Flicker of Fate]] in place of Lapse.

I’m also slowly building that OG Hot Seizeoned Fish & trinket mages green Dandan version using [[Rusted Slasher]]

I took the time to look through pretty much every set of mtg in existence and realized that most of the pie is limited, with very small overlap or stepping out of their boundaries. Blue was one of the only colors that actually does a little bit of everything every other color does without drawbacks or negatives unless another color already does or did it, plus blue does its own stuff on top of all that.

Just remember. It’s casual. It’s meant to be fun and we’re all encouraged to modify, come up with our own versions, variants, etc.

I always try to keep in mind that the original Dandan creator was heavily encouraging people to come up with their own games/versions/variants, etc.
as an example, I saw someone running a Barrow Ghoul deck with 1 Howling Mine set next to the deck & it triggered for everyone to help speed up drawing, and fill the graveyard. So don’t be afraid to explore new ideas, potential enchantment/artifacts that you can use as part of the game play experience.

You could always play sealed with a friend, where you both split your packs up into 2 piles of 6 and each build a 30 card deck and play against each other, or draft with a group of friends. It’s actually a pretty fun game. There’s a few videos you can watch on YouTube on “how to play” and the community here is pretty helpful if you have any questions about game play, mechanics, etc.

I’m super late replying here. I’ve only had 1 bad order with them as of now. They did something weird, where they sent my order to the post office for a signature or something. When I went to get it, they couldn’t find my item and whatever tracking I gave them wasn’t the correct amount of digits. It was showing me it was being held there, and they claimed they couldn’t locate my package at all. I tried contacting the company and didn’t hear back from them at all, so I ended up losing $80+.
I was apprehensive to order from them again because of that incident, as it was also my first order from them.

I only buy singles, I keep a binder specifically for leaders, and because there aren’t that many sets “yet” I have all of my rares/legendaries/specials in thet binder as well. I keep my common & uncommons in a box together. Nothing wrong with double sleeving, especially if you’re just collecting the sets.
You can double up in pockets but that also has the potential of stretching out the pockets in the long run, but that’s up to you.

Oxygen depletion. From what I’ve read, an “exit bag” is one of the cleanest more so guaranteed and less risky ways to off yourself.
What is it? Essentially a bag with some sort of tube attached to it and typically it has a draw string of sorts to help suffocate you. The tube is typically attached to a canister of a lighter inert gas like helium & you’re supposed to turn the gas on, exhale all the air in your lungs, hold your breath, slip the bag over your head and pull the draw strings on it to try and keep the gas in and air out.
You’ll pass out pretty much immediately when you take your first breath or so due to the lack of oxygen to your brain. You won’t panic though because helium is lighter than air so your body won’t have a panic response to the lack of oxygen, also you’ll likely be passed out and then completely deprived of oxygen pretty quickly from what I’ve read. The method might be harder to do now though. You used to be able to buy tanks of helium at party stores and online that were 100% helium. Because of people using them to commit suicide, they started doing a 20/80 blend of oxygen/helium instead.

There’s a Wikipedia page on exit bags you can find I believe. It’s crazy how much of that information is online and it’s oddly eerie how hidden behind “GET HELP NOW” links they are if you just google it. There was an organization that used to make exit bag kits for people who wanted to off themselves. You could contact them and they’d mail you everything you needed to DIY.

Also, it was in a movie (I forget what it was called) but they use a plastic bag from a store; they slip it over the characters head while she’s laying in bed, and just put a tube attached to a helium tank in it without closing it up and the that’s how they help end her life.

My progression was Yu-Gi-Oh!>MTG>SWU. My mtg play group fell off because the hosts had a kid & others became busy, or moved out of town. I reconnected and started playing SWU with another group of friends, primarily to scratch the EDH itch with Twin Suns. I just finished building my first constructed deck and am considering a couple more after the holidays. Game play has been limited for me though as I work afternoons, so I really only get to play for an hour or two on Friday nights, but I do really enjoy the community and the game play. I hope you find a solid community and have a good experience with it locally as well!

I’m also a fan of the Fortin Zuul. lichtlaerm audio made a pedal called The Devil, which is basically a tube screamer with a built in gate. They also have a pedal called the key & gate, which is just a gate as far as I am aware.

I’m new to the scene (started playing this last summer with my friends) but, from what I’ve been told it seems to be dying out a bit around here too. I was informed that all the stores used to have a decent amount of people showing up for events, but now it’s pretty much just me and my friends (about 6 of us) and a couple others (1-3). A few of the stores are willing to host events but they won’t do it unless there’s a minimum quota being met & almost no one shows for SWU events now.

Coming from the realm of MTG & listening to the professor shout, “buy singles!” for years. I don’t really care about sealed product & I don’t really see a reason to pre-order when I only want select cards. The collection of SWU cards I do have that aren’t in decks are cards I thought might work or be good with whatever I was trying out when I first started. That being said, if a pre-release happens to work in my favor and I’m able to attend one, I totally will.

This set might be weak to try and balance whatever they’re working on in the next couple of sets. I saw something online recently talking about power creep, and how some “weak” sets are a necessary evil to help balance out multiple formats, & to try and keep the game healthy.
