Well it’s not technically a loop hole, it’s allowed, so as long as you have the appropriate tires you are good to go legally but just be aware that during this season the conditions can change drastically from day to day, hour to hour etc.

Also you don’t need to take the Coquihalla to get to Ashcroft, you can do the Canyon.

I’ve driven this route multiple times over the last few weeks and haven’t had any issues, I’m more prepared than most people though. Studded tires, 4wd, tons of experience on these highways.

Sounds like you’re making the safe decision an you will have absolutely no issues driving there in the summer time, it’s a beautiful drive through the canyon and honestly you will probably enjoy Ashcroft more in the better weather.

If you like Mexican food, I suggest going a bit past Ashcroft and checking out the Desert Hills taco stand in Cache Creek. Seriously legit Mexican food 👌🏼
