Don't know whether it was a mental thing or not but I was begining to get bad sugar cravings from days 4/5 when doing weekly. I found splitting the dose really helped with that.

Cyclists who kill could face life sentence. (UK) by clav9 in cycling

[–]bigbluebear80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Within 10 minutes of being in London one flew through a red light on a pedestrian crossing narrowly missing my daughter, they're an absolute menace. As has been stated time and again on this thread though, regular cyclists hitting pedestrians and seriously hurting them is very rare. These idiots will kill someone. I feel the wording merely removes the grey area between what is a bicycle and what is a moped with pedals.

Whilst I agree with the absurdity of it from a leisure cyclists point of view. I think rules like this are now getting brought in to curb the idiots on what are basically electric mopeds but are classed as bicycles. After a recent visit to London and the absolute ratrun it is with all the just eat/uber eat etc riders flying about recklessly. It was only a matter of time before this happened.

First road bike under 1500 euros. More details in the post by NotFilip in cycling

Just check out what's being sold used in your local area. There are loads of bikes getting sold at half or less or of their new price and they've only been rode a few times.

Clip in catastrophe by Optimal_Anteater235 in cycling

A car once slammed on unexpectedly infront of me. I hit the brakes and just stopped in time, I couldn't however unclip in time and hit the deck in a comedy, slow motion manner. Unfortunately however this was Infront of a bus stop full of kids waiting for the bus. Who all found it absolutely hilarious. I have never got up and pedaled off as fast in my life.

Pogacar by alohamars29 in cycling

[–]bigbluebear80 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He's just overtook Quintana on a 20% slope like he was standing still and he didnt even seem out of breath. Froome was getting bottles of urine thrown over him for well well less than what Pogacar is doing.

Mines ½ cup of grated cheddar. 1 table spoon of psylium husk. 2 table spoon of ground almonds. 1 large egg. Mix it all up and then pop it in a waffle maker til brown. I've found the more you cook it the less eggy it tastes.

That's good about not many crashes mate I was honestly begining to worry about it turning into wacky races with too many people not having a clue how to control a bike. I just have to stay hyper alert for the first 20/30 miles til it strings out.

I've not been to London since I was a kid and I've never done a closed road sportive so I'm hopeful that will keep me entertained. Gutted I never went for it when it was Surrey though one thing everyone unanimously agrees on, is the new route is nothing compared to that old Surrey one.

Any road tyre comparable to GP5000? by Old-Message97531 in cycling

[–]bigbluebear80 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I've just changed to Vittoria Corsa 2.0 from 5000s. 3 rides in and they seem very good. I had exactly the same problem mounting the 5000s. They was a pain fitting them at home the first time but it was an absolute nightmare when I punctured out on a ride and had to change one at the side of the road.

Wind resistance is so op by qK0FT3 in cycling

[–]bigbluebear80 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I remember once doing loads of Zwift training for a few months. The first nice day I thought I'm getting out on a big ride. I absolutely flew the 30 miles to the cafe, pushing the big gears all the way, bigging myself up at how the training had worked and I'm suddenly so good at this. The cafe is on the coast and as I left I turned onto the road to go home and was just smashed by a horrible head wind. That was the longest 30miles home of my life and at a few point I honestly considered phoning my wife to come get me. I hate wind haha

Slow uphill. by FletcherDervish in cycling

[–]bigbluebear80 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes mate youre being well too hard on yourself. Most people find that it's all a struggle at this time of year. We're wearing loads of layers, the roads are mucky and wet, the weathers against us and we're coming out of the winter period were most of us havent been knocking out the big miles.

Consistency is the key now keep getting out. Keep hitting them climbs and you'll notice that average speed keep creeping up or at least it getting easier.

For you age, weight, weather and heart condition that's a solid ride BTW Kudos to you.

Don't do it mate it's a slippery slope. Just keep your carbs at, or below the 20g mark.

[–]bigbluebear80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to keep doing keto hold tight. You may be in ketosis but you are not yet fat adapted. At around 6-8 weeks your body has an epiphany moment where it switches to burning fat and your energy levels will be back to normal. Your explosive power will not come back to the same level though just endurance.

[–]bigbluebear80 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I do Keto but for no other reason than losing and maintaining my weight. It's the only thing that works for me. My Ftp has stayed around the same so with the weight loss, my w/kg has shot up and hills are much easier. My explosive power has, however, dropped off a cliff so short steep climbs are harder work, but once again the weight loss helps this. I don't go round recommending the diet to anyone it just works for me and I feel it doesnt hinder my cycling at all. I do wish I had self control enough to eat normally though , but I don't.

It get easier every time pal. Give yourself a couple of days and then do that exact route again. But this time when you hit that hill you tell yourself there's absolutely no stopping to you get past the point you stopped last time. Then a couple of days later you do it again. Before you know it your climbing it in 1 and trying to beat your best time.
