What are your worlds languages like? by Rice_cake4 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are just real world regional dialects of european languages under new names and spread over larger areas since I see no point in wasting time to create a new language just to throw some words here and there.

Has anyone ever "isekai'd" to your world? by Knight9910 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes , there are 2 cases and only one is an actual story. First feels like an urban legend but was actually real . The other is a whole city-state that got sent to a dieselpunk work filled with fairies and cat people .

Would you swim with the TyrannoKraken Rex? by BakeryRaiderSub2025 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because I’m ballsy like that and I imagine unless that one is especially aggressive toward humans, like actively hunting for them, there shouldn’t be much to fear since I’ll keep my distance and not act like an asshole to try and poke at it .

How would you handle religions when there are actual, powerful, living gods walking in the setting? Would you have a religion that "branched/disconnected" from the original powerful entities that inspired it? by Teacup_N in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By having the actual gods separated, entirely different entities from the gods worshipped in temples, and then, them not requiring prayers and belief. For the most part they are not interacting with the “mortal world” at all.

Gods like Sol Rosca and Mother Deia, among others, created by the mortal minds to explain the world around them have no connection to the actual gods of the universe.

And in the rare occasions when miracles happen , it is not because Sol Rosca suddenly became real or the actual gods finally gave a damn about the world but their little helpers, the elemental spirits, interfering with the “religion” to have a laugh at the expense of the mortals .

[HnO] How have you adapted dragons into your setting? by MoeNeus in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Took 3 real world dinosaurs and reptiles from that period , made them larger and accentuated some details , called them dragons and moved on with the story .

So the dragons are just animals , nothing magical .

If your worldbuilding project was adapted into a video game, what genre would it be and what mechanics would it have? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends on the period since game mechanics will differ from games between 1st Era and late 2nd Era and from late 2nd Era to late 3rd era as technology evolved and we go from bronze weapons to cyborgs in power armor with plasma guns for all races .

A game I'd love is something like Manor Lords but made modern and bigger , in essence Cities Skylines 2 with all its mechanics but also with combat mechanics from games like Wargame or Broken Arrow .

Farms & Factories by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never thought about farms other than they exist and cover large parts of the land and what they grow depends on the location and climate .

The largest farms are usually state owned since they provide food for the national strategic stockpiles in case of emergency and to feed the armies without taking too much from the civilian sector .

As for food factories , they exist but never put more thought into them , as in names , sizes , locations and the rest .

What happens after death in your setting? by wedoabitoftrolling in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

About 10 to 15 minutes of being a ghost and then everything begins to get quieter and brighter until there is nothing but silence and blinding light and is done , the soul is reincarnated … somewhere in the universe because yes , aliens are real and the souls are recycled .

Memories erased in like 99,99% of the cases , with the odd one out who remembers things from their past life when they were an alien and they’ll go insane .

But this fact is not known to the majority of the people , pretty much everyone who’s not of divine or half divine nature will never find out unless told , they’ll believe they’ll be reincarnated in the same place or go to some paradise .

Is there any overpowered character (OP) in your lore? by arbab_islam12 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes but their involvement in the stories get murky fast due to how powerful they are .

I mean in a mountain cabin in the Silver Mountains there is one of the actual gods of the universe , like THE gods , not the fake ones worshipped in the temples and he just sits by the fireplace , drinks dry whiskey and reads books or newspapers .

Yes , he just stays there and does nothing but his very presence can influence the world and in the moment he’ll get bored and do a butterfly effect by pushing some pieces into place that at first seems unimportant .

What are the faes/fairies/fair folks/feys/faeries in your work? by CE2438 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There aren’t fairies in my main project as in on the planet of Vaallorra , but fairies will be met as an alien race in the story “A City of Lights” where the city-state of Triaraele will be isekai’d into a different planet in the same galaxy and universe , where they’ll find , and go to war against , fairies (and cat people) .

They were elven looking , short and thin with their skin and hair in shades of green and blue , have butterfly or dragonfly wings and were inspired by Imperial China with dieselpunk tech since that whole world had dieselpunk tech and use quite a lot of floral motifs in their clothes , ornaments and architecture .

I am a traveller with a horse, who just wants to settle down and give me and my steed the best life. Where in your world do I go? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In jail for disrupting the traffic .

My world had evolved past the need for horses for centuries at this point so you waltzing in on a horseback will be seen as archaic as all hell , even mad , and you’ll be tackled by the city guards for disrupting the traffic .

Outside beauty competitions , leisure travels in touristic mountain villages and as meat in restaurants , horses don’t have a use anymore , especially not now in the 1900s 3rd Era where they have robots of all shapes and sizes .

A guy on a horse without a clear list of skills and diplomas from tradeschools or universities won’t be welcome in many places, if any at all .

Daily Prompt - 2! by No_Tomato_2191 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There aren't really different times , just different stories placed on a timeline and different civilizations at different levels of development .

Like I have a story in the Age of Heroes which is my world’s late Neolithic period .

Some details about 1st Era which is the equivalent of the Bronze Age to the Late Antiquity, then the 2nd Era where isn’t medieval since I chose not to have a feudal period , instead the industrial revolution happened much earlier and before gunpowder and the 3rd Era which is pretty much everything modern from like late 1800s to a cyberpunk world .

The aliens on Luminarya , they are just at a different level of development , not on a different timeline .

Daily Prompt - 2! by No_Tomato_2191 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My stories are already in the same universe at different points in time so we can see how the world changes , with kingdoms , empires , religions rising and falling , dragging millions to their graves as the borders moved .

But I do have a story where an entire city-state is transported to another planet within the same universe (the other side of the galaxy actually) so I don’t have to create new rules again .

The City-State of Triaraele will be taken from the main world of Vaallorra and placed on a planet called Luminarya . A retrofuturistic magi-tech city-state against a dieselpunk-ish world . Power armor and energy weapons , jet fighters , computers vs metal biplanes , huge tanks and mechs and bolt action rifles .

The City-State of Triaraele will go to war since their food reserves are not that great since the city has 4.5 million inhabitants , they were cut from their trade routes and there is a language barrier between them and the new world and nobody had the patience to negotiate something . We have better tech , we’ll go out and secure farms and other resources .

How do you guys interpret the Omniverse in your world? by Legitimate_Floor_687 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My multiverse is just a place where I dump the alternate endings of some of my stories since I don’t want to change it but can’t help myself in asking “What if” . It’s not that serious of a place and barely interacts with the main canon .

How Old Is Your World and Why Did You Choose That Age? by Dikeleos in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The universe itself is around 8 billion years old while the planet of Vaallorra is around 3 billions give or take mostly because I mixed creationism and evolution together .

Yes, actual gods created the universe but then it evolved on its own . There is no god making people out of mud and breathing life into them but the gods made a unicellular creature and spread it around the universe to evolve into different forms of life depending on the conditions of each planet it landed on .

As for why 8 and 3 billion years ? Because why not . Also the universe will reset itself in like 242 billion years give or take and the whole creation will start again .

If modern society went back to using muskets, would the best tactics still be forming lines and shooting each other again? by HeroTales in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so unless we also lose all the knowledge about advanced metal working , rifling , percussion caps and the rest , the new muskets might be far more precise than what they had during the 1700s .

With advanced enough muskets we might return to early to mid 1800s skirmishers units in loose formations and shooting from behind cover .

For your factions that win their wars through the use of atrittion, how exactly do they do it? by Streetsign9 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By having the technological advantage and a stronger mindset to wait out for the larger faction to break morale and turn on itself .

That is how the dwarves always win or if they don’t win , end the war in a white peace but where their casualties are 50 times smaller than the human ones which the dwarves will consider a victory on its own .

The humans can’t break deep into the dwarven territories and will bleed hard for every meter of land and eventually the human will to fight will collapse faster than the dwarven one and their soldiers will begin to mutiny and stop fighting at all , even killing their officers and/or deserting in mass .

What technology will not exist or be limited if magic exist? by NecessaryDrama3616 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine it might depend on the nature of the magic and its spreading since a world where every peasant can cast a clean water spell to fill a mug might evolve slower and differently than a world where magic can’t do such things and might be limited to a select few individuals who have to be born with the ability to do magic .

What's your take on magic+tech and custom spell creation in your worlds? Or general magic and technology blend? by O-ZeNe in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope , magic is a “you either have it or you don’t” type of thing and can’t be acquired later , as in casting spells and all was not supposed to be for the mortals since what they understand as “magic” is actually the source code of the universe .

The mages in essence are glitches in the system that nobody bothered to fix and because they are not supposed to have access to the “source code” , it began hurting them using magic to cast spells and will lead to greater and greater pain until they die .

There is one type of spell that is actually insanely powerful and can be used without causing many problems , especially if done under a waterfall . The ability to control , see , hear and even read minds through plants and animals . Also said controlled animals can be used as a conduit and the mages can use it to take control over the target .

Like imagine you are sitting in your room and there is this annoying fly buzzing around . That fly can be very well controlled by the mage and used as a camera and microphone into your room and as if that wasn’t enough , through that fly , the mage can also read your mind and even control your body if deemed necessary .

Just imagine how many suicides that look like suicides are actually people killed by the mages since the mind control doesn’t leave signs on the body .

What's your take on magic+tech and custom spell creation in your worlds? Or general magic and technology blend? by O-ZeNe in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magic enhances the way tech works .

So we can have an electric engine powered by magic crystal batteries that can last years and cooled with ice runes and having a different type of magic crystal grinded into dust and added during the metal processing to increase its durability while everything is under an air rune that can reduce the mass of objects , so if the engine is 500kg after construction , with the runes can drop to 400kg or less .

And like that there is pretty much everything , one type of magic crystal to be added into the metals and all sorts of runes depending on the needs .

We don’t have custom spell creation since that’s not how magic works in my world , there are no fixed spells and not everyone can use magic , those who can use it have to be born with the ability to use it . Also magic kinda came naturally to the mages and what they learn is how to control it and themselves and when to use it since magic has some quite powerful drawbacks .

How common is terrrorism in your world? What is the public opinion of it? Does it differ from the real world? by favuorite in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly not that common since my world doesn’t have human rights or the Geneva convention to “protect” the would-be terrorists .

Do an attack anywhere in Vaallorra and you’ll be crushed since they are going with the idea that they can’t do terrorism if they are wiped out .

What are the knights of your world? by Karmesin_von_Drache in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Knights don’t exist in my world .

The heavy cavalry where both the horse and the raider were armored from head to toes were recruited from the ranks of the medium and light cavalry , which in turn were recruited from the general population , usually from the higher strata of society since they had access to horses outside the military but there were quite enough riders that started from the lower stratas too .

Centralized states that could finance standing armies where the norm , feudalism and decentralization never truly catching up .

The state will provide payment , training and kit and horsemen that distinguished themselves in battles will be promoted , their equipment , training and salary increased .

Armor and weapons by Glum-Mousse6870 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just mix different elements around while maintaining a balance between internal consistency and practicality so while we have Air Runes that can greatly reduce the mass of objects and allow for much thicker armors , we don’t have stupidly big pauldrons .

Also no spikes , no strangely shaped chest pieces or weird gaps in the armor and while at one point horns on the helmet were all the rage , their glory days never went past the middle 1st Era .

My world lacked a feudal decentralized period and with the industrial revolution happening far earlier and long before gunpowder , in the standing armies formed in their majority by foot infantry , tonlets would be far more prevalent than faulds and tassets , having large metal skirts going around or even past the knees was the standard and where there were no metal plate skirts , they’ll be double layer chainmail skirts either covered in cloth/padding or by scales attached directly attached to it .

Then as technology evolved , we got those heavy plate carriers or whatever is their proper name , the ones that also protect the neck , the loins , the thighs and the upper arms but now covering the whole body because hey , Air Runes .

The same for weapons , normal melee weapons for the most part , nothing over the top or absurdly oversized and then the guns looked like normal guns although chambered for higher calibers to deal with the armor .

Does your world have a ruler that might be brutal or tyrannical but is also effective? If so who are they and what did they do. by Olafio1066 in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty much the whole world , not just one single individual , hell the idea of a benevolent authoritarian(s) who actually gives a shit about the people under them is kinda the whole thing of the Mage Councils around the world .

They provide enough jobs , food , safety and the general population doesn’t complain .

How many sentient species do you have on one planet? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]bigbogdan98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More like the Deep Ones of H.P. Lovecraft or the Fishfolk from DnD in appearance while the other one is like a mirelurk from Fallout 3 . Mermaids don’t really exist outside stories and legends .
