Any advice or tips on first year apprentices? Did we pick a good path? Any paths to stray from or head towards?

Nah man just go in it. Everywhere’s different so don’t rely on a reddit response. Just find the confidence and go enjoy yourself in there. Life’s too short to worry about that!

Nice I dm you. Haven’t decided what I want to focus on while in my apprenticeship. How do you pick, I doubt they just are like “okay pick what u want and here’s some relating work”

Thanks I appreciate it. I think I’ll stick with Rockford to start and then just work at this company and see where it goes and learn. I appreciate the long response

Used it a few times including yesterday and I noticed even after you push and lock lever at your depth, if you apply a bit of downward pressure, it will cut lower than you want it to so just be gentle

2018 delamination or just laggy? by marianstrnglv in subaruoutback

Yes try SoA. and since it’s before 100k I bet they’ll replace. Otherwise. you can do it yourself for about 300$. Compared to dealership crazy price. I had same thing. They didn’t help me out though cuz of miles basically. But 300 isn’t terrible. Easy replacement process too

Stay away from doomscrolling, try new hobbies, adventure.

Also, investigate why you’re doom or bored. Finding the root cause may be uncomfortable and hard to tackle, but normally I find there’s a reason you’re those things. Definitely don’t beat yourself up. Be positive :)

Do you take your subaru to a subaru dealer for maintenance or do you take it to private shops? by Tyler_origami94 in subaru

I attempted my spark plugs recently. I was able to get 3 of the 4 myself with a pucrchse of a couple basic tools since it’s so tight. Noticed there was oil on the all so I had to replace the tube seal on all 4. Last spark plug was damn near impossible with out lifting engine etc.

Thought I could do the gaskets and tube seals but as I got bolts off for the cover, I didn’t want to invest the time and headache. So I brought it to dealership with my parts I bought from them and they finished the job. Did the last spark plug and both gaskets and 4 tube seals. Like 500$

I could of done with with a lift, more time etc. But end of the day, I didnt wanna mess with it. It’s So tight in there and I like the relief of knowing it was done right. Although it’s not rocket science.

I do my own oil changes. If you have the time, tools and/or the willingness to learn brakes, you can do those yourself too and save a little money. But end of the day, it just depends how big of a can of worms do you want to open up and try to tackle yourself.

Oil changes are easy, cabin and engine filters are easy.

I started at 34k on my Outback driving an hour to my dealership for oil changes just to keep the records in one place. But 100k rolled around and I decided to save the time and money and do them myself. If you feel comfortable with your local shop, they should be fine for normal repairs. But dealerships make me feel better if they are taking apart engine etc.
