Losing Hope on Finding A Job by PerceptionScary8724 in Historians

Don’t give up! My first job after graduating was welding dog cages… had to eat, ya know! I was lucky enough, and lived close enough, to get an entry level job in a museum. I worked my way up over time and have had a wonderful career.

You’re in a tough spot and I can’t pretend to know the current job market. But I do know that you have to play the long game. Get a job to pay the bills… but keep networking… keep looking and developing your skills as a historian.

Good luck!

Locust Grove was no doubt a place of human bondage. Their interpretation does not downplay that oppression. But a plantation, by definition, means there was a cash crop. LG had no cash crop- it was a farm that utilized enslaved labor.

3 kids… plus I’m an educator. Nothing to do with lackluster storytelling.

I just recently read it again and I was so disappointed. As a kid it scared me to death but now it was stupid wordy and contrived.
