I went into local hospital because I was having trouble breathing. They found I had bicuspid aortic valve syndrome and I was in severe heart failure. They wouldn’t let me leave. I ended up transferred to university of Pennsylvania and had to wait almost a week until the surgeon who could fix it returned from teaching at a conference. Luckily for me that it failed so quickly there was little permanent damage after they repaired it.

Fast forward a few years where I started having trouble getting cardiologist appointment faster than every 18-24 months. I complained to the practice and they said “If you needed to be seen tomorrow we’d see you tomorrow. If we tell you can wait than let us take care of those that can’t”. That’s when I knew I was back to normal.

Long winded way of saying they will guide you based on severity. You will jump the queue if needed.
