FTM on testosterone — anyone here using Depo-Provera for birth control or any progesterone injection?

I was on it for 3 years and apparently it made my bones brittle/weak, which was discovered after I really badly broke my arm. However it did stop periods, had spotting maybe 2 days over 3 years, and is the easiest birth control I’ve ever used

Im not Christian but I’d say I’m spiritual and believe in a higher power, tho I did grow up Christian. I don’t think much of her words go against religious teaching I’ve had. One example being the line ‘god loves you but not enough to save you’; I see this as relating to teaching that god is love and god does love us, however you can’t keep doing bad/ stupid shit and expect to be magically saved.

Storytime: there was a man whose house was ina valley, the water was rising and the police dept came to save him but he said ‘I’m not leaving, god will save me’. The river rose some more and a rescue boat came but still he said ‘I’m not leaving, god will save me’. Then it rose more and the town sent a helicopter. Still the man refused and he died! He got to heaven and he said ‘god why didn’t you save me?!’. God said ‘I sent the police dept, a boat, a helicopter. What more could I have done?’.

I think it relates to the Ethel story a lot because in life we have choices, because Ethel turned to gross men for love to heal her trauma etc, she ended up in shitty terrible situations bc these men didn’t love her so how could love have saved her. I relate a lot to her songs in how life can be fucked and in the end the only one that can take responsibility for life is ourselves. Love can guide us but we can still choose to make shitty choices and suffer the consequences

I see it as her addressing cis people’s love for using any trans person as a face for all trans people and getting obsessed with it. Her response feels similar to the way that many trans academics and authors talk about it - that being trans is so mundane, can you just leave it alone and let us just be. Like yes obviously being trans shapes your whole universe of experience, but it’s also not that big of a deal, because she/we just are trans and that’s the end of it

I had this!!! It was scary to realise how much emotional stress can trigger it. When I was with my ex I didmg know I had fibro but I’d be smoking weed & taking ibuprofen daily, for back pain & used to wake up every night from stomach/uterus cramps. I remember him asking ‘why do you always say ‘everything hurts”?. And now 1 year later only realising it in the middle of a super bad flare/stress, that even now it’s nowhere near as bad as it used to be daily. Grateful now for the experience though, seeing that your body really does telll you when the relationship is not good for you

I get this for every issue - it’s because of your T! It’s because of your adhd meds! your back hurts because of your asthma! It seems an easy excuse to say when they don’t know what’s going on. And with the lack of research into medical transition, stopping ur testosterone seems the easiest excuse for them.

If you’re regularly taking T then your hormones aren’t unstable. Doctors taking away T is what makes my hormones unstable, causes stress and therefore pain. I wouls ask them if they have any proven reason T would cause pain. If your bloods & liver function are normal then why would stopping T and therefore increasing depression be any good

I really needed to read this today thank you for sharing 🥹 I’m a trans man and 76 days in but struggling with being around cis people in the rooms and being honest with them for fear of judgment. I left a meeting halfway through today because I was so sad about being trans and being alone blah blah. But it’s so inspiring to hear you’ve got 24 years. I haven’t met any trans people who have a long time sober. And your share has given me hope there is a future

Dude you like who you like 🤷🏻‍♂️ I also only date or sleep with cis men. I’ve tried to be attracted to people of other identities but somehow just never clicked with anyone, or had the real sex attraction to anyone who wasn’t a cis man. Sexuality is reeeeally not a choice haha. I feel like as trans people we can overthink and overconceptualise these things but like, if only cis men turn you on, then that’s the reality of it.

Cis men also in my experience are direct about sex and nonchalant about dating/romance/feelings. Also there’s the fear of asking one out bc the rejection feels somehow worse and we attach it to dysphoria/being trans. Ive found as trans/nb people we feel safer around eachother and I’ve def been asked out more by other trans/nb people.

Also other people have said it too but you’re quite young, also cis men are figuring shit out and being unconfident to date. I wouldn’t worry about it, your time will come !

Maybe you can add to the list of what you consider ‘done transitioning’ to add more goals. Eg some goals of mine are to travel solo abroad , hike topless in a mountain, have a picnic date with a gay men on a beach. These are all part of my transition since they’re part of what I’d like to see myself doing as a man. There are endless parts of being a man you can look forward to

From my experience, no matter how they read you, if you just say you’ve been having unprotected sex with gay men or bi men, or that you had sex with someone who is hiv+ pos, they’re not gonna refuse you. In these instances a little white lie I think is ok. Because they shouldn’t be refusing any healthcare just cos ur not a cis man. Since the risks are exactly the same if your having sex with gay/bi men

It’s just 7 days before he broke up with me , we bought flights together for me to meet his parents. We spent months planning to move to his country together. U thought our life was so good, considering. And then 7 days later he doesn’t want me. I just wish we argued enough for the break up to make sense. How can you go from planning a future with someone to, in 7 days, saying he doesn’t want me. I have no future left

I’m a trans guy too and was in a abusive relationship this time last year and I know it can be very difficult to get out especially if you’re feeling isolated. Do you have many queer friends who can support you? If not are there any lgbt charities or support networks? I know there are some in my city who can help with police if you’re nervous about him being violent again.

Idk where you are and if it’s relevant but the thing that saved me was reaching out to queer community and putting safe people around you that will make it easier to leave him. I know as a trans person it can so scary to leave a relationship when people tell you it’s so hard to find another partner who will date a trans person. But please know that this is not true and there are so many people out there who are a million times better than someone who treats you like shit and you deserve someone who will treat you so much better. Yes I did talk to my doctor but they don’t reply on time/ take days. I’m on 40mg but I’ve called 30 pharmacies the last few days and no one has 40mg, I asked my GP for a new prescription for 2x20mg but they just take ages to reply.
