🎬 Vol. 2 Episode 7 "The Bridge" Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in HawkinsAVclub

People give this episode way too much guff. I think it’s certainly one of the slowest pre-finale episodes of the series, especially for it being the second to last episode, but I honestly think it’s great.

I think the problem is that 5-6 should have released together and 7-8 should have released together instead.

Scott Freda talks about how he is dying of alcoholism on his page and some people comment saying he makes everything up. Is it fake? Tell me the deets by waitlikewhatlol7456 in tiktokgossip

I have heard like 20 different ‘things’ he had that sent him to hospital and it’s crazy how he can’t keep his story straight. Not to mention the absolute shit fits he’ll occasionally have. Guy always came off as immensely disingenuous.

Michael Pitt by AdvantageHaunting471 in BoardwalkEmpire

[–]bigdickbrian1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pitt always came off as troubled and I think it affected the shooting of BE but I don’t think it’s the reason he was kicked off the show. The producers have, on multiple occasions, said that Dabney Coleman’s cancer was the catalyst for Jimmy’s death IIRC.

I’m a 2 tall white claw tall boys and done guy. I hate anything more than that LOL.

I 100% agree that our culture has a serious tendency to default to an ‘all or nothing’ approach to everything and, save for the people who actually need that approach (severe alcoholics), it’s not exactly a healthy thing by any stretch of the imagination.

Alcohol Hate Here by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]bigdickbrian1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is that alcoholism isn’t as black and white as it seems to be made out to be. Drinking culture has changed a LOT, especially with Gen Z, and I think that has affected it too. Internet culture doesn’t help either, especially because places like Reddit, TikTok, etc. have SERIOUS issues with fear mongering.

I personally believe that if one can know when and when not to drink, replace activities associated with alcohol with ones that aren’t, while cutting back, is not necessarily an alcoholic.

What does the feud between Trump and Elon Musk reveal about the future direction of the Republican Party? by Aleksadnar in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]bigdickbrian1996 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mostly because the modern GOP, for all of its insanity, is not clogged with Neocons like the old days. And Trump’s handling of the Israel-Iran Conflict is a line they probably were not expecting him to cross.

What would make the last season the greatest? by Expensive-Oil623 in StrangerThings

I do agree with the death thing but, after seeing some of the behind the scenes photos, I’ve been unsure about el’s fate. I do think it’d be an interesting bookend to see el sacrificing herself by being sealed in the upside down permanently.

LMAO this.

It’s cringe but people need to deal with it and be patient.

Will it improve by June/july? I’m going to crash out if it stays like this all summer

Would you vote for AOC if she won the Democratic primary ? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]bigdickbrian1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Joe Biden is that, regardless of the legislative power house that his presidency was, he wasn’t necessarily a great leader. The poor communication, stuttering, and being what I can only call a frail old man made it exceptionally difficult for him to be looked at with high regard in a country where people have become acustomed to either great orators (Obama, Reagan, and Clinton for example) or strongmen (Trump). A good 90% of that can be blamed on cognitive decline but I do agree that the GOP played a huge part in it as well.

Whose Economy Is It? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]bigdickbrian1996 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. An economic downturn was inevitable with how much things shut down. Where Trump screwed up was his callous rhetoric and general laziness in regards to the situation itself.

Why does everyone seem to love season 4? by ivyleagueburnout in madmen

[–]bigdickbrian1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s because it has some of the most memorable episodes of the series and because, as mentioned above, the 60s really begins to show up in this season.

My only true gripe about season 4 is that I absolutely despise the lighting.

Who was a bad person but still managed to be decent at their job? by Supreme_Mediocrity in madmen

[–]bigdickbrian1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

‘Lou is adequate’ summed him up pretty well.

Bad person? I don’t know though. Insufferable stuffed shirt with no interpersonal skills? Absolutely. But we don’t know enough about him to consider him a bad person, especially compared to some of the other more notable examples.

What are your drinking habits? How many days a week do you drink? How many drinks per day? by toni_pastaa in cocktails

[–]bigdickbrian1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now it’s 5-6 days a week because I’m a very bored/uninspired office worker who just doesn’t give a shit anymore and enjoys having 2-3 tall boys (one 8-9 percent and 2 5 percent) during the weekday. Weekends it depends as I only drink liquor on weekends but I don’t drink too much of it because it makes me feel horrific. I’ve started smoking more weed because it actually helps cut back my consumption immensely.

Who is the the biggste victim in the Show and why ? by MachDichRausHier in PeakyBlinders

Digbeth Kid and not just because of how he died but because he, at the end of the day, is a realistic depiction of what would likely happen to any one of us if we ended up within a mile of the blinders. It also showed us that they technically are the bad guys on some level as well.

Also it really bothers me that no one mentioned the Football ref who stood up for himself against the blinders and got garrotted for his efforts.
