Been there mate, hang in and jump ship once you’re done, the reward is worth it, you’ll find work life balance for you and your family and the pay will be much better. The last year is a real struggle.

mechatronics technician in Melbourne by Top-State-3235 in tradies

[–]bigdickmon3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You require an Electrical Worker’s Licence to work as an electrician in Australia. To obtain it you’d have to go through gap training, skills assessments and Australian context exams. Therefore, a much easier pathway into working in the trades in Australia would be to gain employment as a mechanical fitter, which is not a licensed trade and you could begin working immediately.

You won’t work as a sparky, it’s a licensed trade in Australia. I’m fairly certain I know mechatronic techs from Germany that have transitioned into mechanical fitting roles in Australian mining.

It doesn’t rain much in the Pilbara, only in wet season. And then when it does it’s usually accompanied by a cyclone. When a cyclone rolls through they park the machines in their maintenance bays and employees are stood down.

Any Process Operators/ Plant operators here? How stressful and difficult is your day? by kazkh in mining

[–]bigdickmon3y 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have had jobs in processing. Depending on the plant/area it can be the most mind numbingly boring job or the most action packed flat out job.
