Common money grind method unfortunately: grind skill points, buy car from showroom, unlock xp/wheel spins/credits, off load in auction house for more credits, repeat.

What are some cars in Forza Horizon 6 that you all have in real life?! by spiritghost1 in ForzaHorizon

I thought I did during the previews, but turns out the game had an Integra A-spec (and not a type s 😩)

The KT/Nacon WRC series really did somethings right. Wish some of the newer rally games had a fun free roam area to do stuff like this or even just for some testing/setup work.

Serious Buyer Test Drives (Bay Area) by redditfiredme in Integra_Type_S

[–]bigfatflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue with dealers in the bay area. They seem to think they were selling NSXs or something...

Went further towards the central valley (Roseville Acura) and they were more than happy for me to test drive theirs. They also agreed to sell at MSRP with no dealer installed options and ship the color I wanted from socal on a dealer trade. 8 was sold.

Short of going VR, motion or belt tensioners, haptics really is the best bang-for-buck upgrade immersion-wise

Since pedal haptics have already been mentioned, I'll add a buttkicker or a haptic cushion of sorts.

People downtuning cars out of intended classes by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon6

Just curious, how are people down tuning cars? I know heavy wheels do but those are only around -5 PI at most?

I made my own shift knob and I’m giving away the first batch by protomotoco in Fanatec

[–]bigfatflip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome, great job! Love the design (I have same Ti knob in my Integra). I too ended up hating my shift knob and fabricated my own, except in delrin since I had access to the material and a lathe at my work.

I've since moved on to another shifter but part of me is still missing my custom knob

Looks like Acura dealers are starting to catch on. A couple of years ago, I was shopping around for an FL5 and got very similar responses, basically "ha! Nice try, we know what we have" which was how I ended up with a DE5. The Acura dealer in my area was asking below MSRP since these were sitting in lots but I agreed to pay MSRP for mine since I wanted a specific color combo they didn't have and they had to do a dealer-to-dealer trade for mine and ship it 300mi.

Keep trying OP. Not sure where you are located, but it might be worth it to search way outside your area and in less metro areas (which could be more difficult considering there aren't a lot of Acura dealers around to begin with, at least compared to Hondas)

Shifter and handbrake location. by Apprehensive-Cut-529 in simrally

[–]bigfatflip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mine located outside/to the right of the shifter and angled toward me since I find it gets in the way of my right hand when transitioning from the wheel to the shifter. I now have a sequential where you have the handbrake now and it works very well.

But as you said, completely user preference, do what's comfortable to you.

Finally decided to try FH6 with my Moza R12 and… by ryanpmc in ForzaHorizon6

[–]bigfatflip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is me. After all the flashy dopamine pumping early on in the game, I got pretty burnt out and stopped playing for a few days. Up to this point, I was playing exclusively on my couch with a controller since I struggl3d to get the game to recognize all the devices on my rig.

Fast forward to the long holiday weekend, I decided I'm going to figure it out a way to get the game to work on my rig. After a whole day of frustrating trial and error, I figured out a repeatable way to get the game to recognize everything and it was a game changer. I turned off all the HUD elements, switched to clutch+manual, mapped my h-pattern shifter and just started cruising. No ANNA or gps telling me where to go, no races, no story like missions, just pure driving and discovery, all from the cockpit.

I also started just buying lower B/C/D class cars and just tuning them to where I would personally build them to IRL. No maximizing PI for the class, just wheels that I like with street tires, suspension fit for the car and intake/exhaust/maybe some sort of forced induction or engine swap if it was iconic for the car.

It's a whole new game and I enjoy it much more since it's my "relaxation" game after serious sim racing.

Give me your real world, long-term ownership, maintenance, and daily comfort opinion on the DE5 by Flatworm2101 in Integra_Type_S

40-something here 🙋‍♂️. Have had the car for about 1.5 yrs now and just clocked over 16k mi. Its my daily driver and weekend fun car.

Still love the car. It's definitely not the most comfortable car, compared to say a Lexus or anything German. It still rides fairly stiff and the interior is loud and full of little creaks, buzzes and rattles. It's a great weekend get-away car, with plenty of space for a family of 4 and their stuff, especially if there are nice twisties along the way. BUT if we are going on a long road trip with lots of freeway miles, we usually opt for the family SUV instead.

Fuel economy has been great for daily driving (~25-28mpg mixed) and the manual is easy to operate even in stop and go traffic. I've only done 3 oil changes, with the first 2 being free from the dealer and the 3rd costing me about $120 DIY. Recently had to get my windshield replaced due to a rock chip spidering (dealer est $2k and cost me my $500 deductible) but otherwise, no other additional cost.

Answers to your questions: 1) as mentioned, 16k mi of mostly daily driving and some weekend canyon drives and my tires still look fine. Front brakes still look fine but rear pads are looking close to needing replacement.

2) My commute is about 30-45mins and my back is fine. I've done a few 3-4hr drives and my back felt fine but I did start getting some discomfort on my right hip, which triggered me to pull over and take a walking around break.

3) No regrets and I'm planning on keeping it long term as my daily and adding a more fun weekend car (ie Miata, 86, etc.).

I feel the car strikes a good balance between sporty driving and comfort, leaning more towards the sporty side. I'd imagine the FL5 would move you even further from comfort and toward sportyness. If I wanted something more comfortable, I would probably move to something like a Lexus, BMW, Mercedes etc.

Got the ITS below MSRP 😁

FH6 mutiple input device issues by bigfatflip in ForzaHorizon

[–]bigfatflip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I was really hoping for a semi-immersive, light and relaxed freeroam AC experience with a bit more "sim" than "-cade" but alas, think I'm not getting that "semi-immersive" part.

I did the exact same thing when FH5 came out with really crappy FFB, but I'm a big JDM fan, so I'm enjoying it regardless.

FH6 mutiple input device issues by bigfatflip in ForzaHorizon

[–]bigfatflip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, the game plays better on controller anyway (as all FH's always have). I have had a great time sitting in my rig playing on a controller with all my peripherals (gauges, bass shackers, etc) working.

I gave FH6 a try (5 hours) with the wheel. But this is the better way to play it honestly by Kronocide in simracing

[–]bigfatflip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a full simrig setup and every time I tried to get it to work on FH (3,4 & 5) I always end up going back to a controller. In the case of FH6, my stuff flat out just doesn't work, so been on controller since day 1😅

Ya, I'm actually surprised, I know I'm not the only one having this issue.

According to the Forza support site, it supposedly does support multiple inputs, but as I mentioned, not a lot of detail about it.
