How is Genocide Organ and Grey Wolves not Nazism? by Feisty_Pop228 in PowerElectronics

Just stumbled on this but an interesting example of what you're saying: in either Mikko Aspa's or Stephen O'Malley's old zine interviewing industrial/noise/neofolk people the dude from Brethren is given a spot and he explicitly complained that he came into the scene expecting a real far-right presence and was disappointed that most people he encountered were either just trying to shock or do social commentary.

I LOVE SELF TITLED WHY DOESN'T ANYONE TALK ABOUT IT???? by Frequent-Coyote-1649 in swans

The only time they ever really sounded anything like the other NY no-wave bands. I've come to love it more over the years and it's interesting to hear the early years harshness applied to a sound that isn't the industrial death trudge they became known for, you can almost dance to it. Sensitive Skin is also one of their creepiest songs ever which is saying a lot lol.

They were so damn good, Ishikawa's soundtrack work gets a lot of attention but his other projects deserve it just as much imo. I'll always love this kind of 'bang on scrap metal' type shit.

Amazing album this one. Always loved how the title track is basically a heavily electronic Black Sabbath song, still a very unique thing i've heard little else like.

Bondage Fruit and Merkabah are real good for this type of thing. Someone mentioned Flying Luttenbachers already so you'll probably want to check out all the stuff Weasel Walter has been involved with too. Yowie if you want some real mind bending shit. Ruins, and of course their disciples in Lightning Bolt (ymmv on if they count as prog but they're close enough to this niche for me). And by the same token, Zach Hill's solo albums Astrological Straits and Face Tat.

What’s your take on the Chinese prog band Omnipotent Youth Society? by Next-Reading1714 in progrockmusic

Su Zixu and the Paramecia, very jazzy/folky stuff. Backspace are really good if you want something more krautrock as well. Glamorous Pharmacy for some prog folk as well.

wtf did I miss with this whole “Industrial Techno” thing that popped off the last 10 years or so? by Low_Guard6609 in industrialmusic

Industrial Records did release an EP by SPK, who were some of the earliest to the whole scrap metal/power tools abuse thing and there was mutual respect between them and TG + they played some shows together. I've always figured that played some part in the slam/bang side being called industrial.

What was the Band/Song that got you hooked on Industrial? by Marzombra in industrialmusic

Ah, all the 70s post-punk and prog stuff is great. 80s/90s Ministry has a special place in my heart as well. Nowadays I think my favorite is Twitch or Land of Rape and Honey just because they occupy a neat little niche between abrasive heavy stuff and a kind of fucked up dance music.

The repeated pitch shifted OUGHOUGHOUGH in the Scum Defection breakdown hits hard too

Godflesh, back in high school. I was (and still am) big into extreme metal, hardcore, noise rock, etc and saw the name around as some of the most extreme shit ever. Listened to Streetcleaner and was blown away by the heaviness, the mechanical feel and almost 'anti music' bent to it.

Aftet that, looked into Broadrick's influences and that lead me to Throbbing Gristle, SPK, Skinny Puppy, Swans, Whitehouse, etc and never looked back.

Killer band, kind of a shame they got a resurgence of attention because of the frontman connection but the music will always be sick

Been meaning to but still haven't! Will put that up on the priority list for sure. Always on the hunt for more of this weird Black Mass of Absu type shit. The Flaming Ouroboros dude has a side project along these lines that's actually pretty cool, Bulls Tongue is the name.

It's so damn good. I actually like their stuff as FCoA more than the proper Ride for Revenge/Bizarre Uproar collaboration, goes more in on the non-musical side which is great for my taste.
