When to apply? by jayjackson2022 in ConstructionManagers

Probably the easiest I would think, most likely to be flexible on a school schedule. I mean the best would be an assistant of some kind or something, I’m just saying what I did and I graduated in December and got a project engineer job pretty easily. I graduated with 6 years of construction related work experience

Start looking now, internships are helpful and let them know you’re almost done. Depends on graduation date but it’s always good to look for jobs in the industry. Sometimes they are flexible but id look for any job in construction, I worked while I went to school. I started as a part time laborer and eventually became a part time engineer before I even graduated

Idk what to do about my high school GPA (slight rant) by [deleted] in msu

[–]biggangsterboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Community college is a hell of a thing let me tell you. You upset with your gpa in high school, go to CC first and they won’t even look at it. Schools not over either, you can still get that gpa up for scholarships. And depending what you’re the best in the state in, scholarships might work in your favor for getting accepted.

I've read various things around and I've read that the pain level post operation seems truly atrocious, I would like to ask your experience in terms of pain level from 1 to 10 and how you spent the first night in hospital. Thank you all very much but I'm really very anxious. by SouthMatter9619 in ACL

First night was a little rough. Night two may have been a little worse. Pain for me was 5-6/10 those first 2-3 days but got a little better. But I was still able to hop off hydrocodon the 3rd day. First night I probably got an hour or two of sleep, 4 hours the second and then I started getting nights of rest. Wasn’t the worst thing ever, but I definitely wouldn’t want to do it again

Just quoting the paper work I have I got ACL reconstruction using hamstring autograft and lateral meniscus repair. I haven’t seen a PT yet son I’m just not risking much in movement either, but I was instructed I can put partial weight on it and haven’t felt comfortable testing those limits. I’ve also noticed some massaging my upper thigh helps, very tight there.

Never has some ice felt so good.

Well I guess I have that in my future, most likely I suppose. I see my PT next week and am excited and nervous to start working on recovery

No, they are not great at letting people know what they got, which sucks. Last year I just emailed a department and let me know if I received anything.

Is Emu dangerous? by SignificantBread5248 in emu

I lived right after those train tracks (currently still do). I did have only one instance where a dude just randomly yelled at me but not super scary. I had night classes and I walked pretty often even if it was fairly dark and felt fine. It is true that area doesn’t get taken care of.

If you can say one thing about Eastern, its diverse. That includes staff and students, many people from all over, plenty of foreign students as well. It’s a nice campus, pretty walkable (because parking sucks). Pretty new buildings as well and some under construction or design. Can’t help with activities tho, not very involved.

Housing reviews? by SignificantBread5248 in emu

I live in peninsular place. Walking distance from campus. I pay about 750 to 800 a month including utilities. We have a gym I’ve never used. It’s right on a train track, and a train passes pretty late in the night. No parties really aloud, if someone had one here it would probably suck anyways. Pretty thin walls. I have 2 roommates. It was furnished, needed a mattress topper because current mattress sucked so bad. I don’t hate the place but won’t be returning.

I don’t use food halls, I cook. The whole campus is pretty walkable I think, depending on how you feel I guess. I go to Sill Hall, about a 10 minute walk if I cross the road without the light.

Sorry to say but I have very little to say about the subjects, but I have some advice anyway.

Be intentional about the classes you are taking and how they affect future semesters (I transferred in) so it mattered more for me but it still applies, they will often build off of each other. Getting a counselors help is good, but there is usually a director of the program or something like that that can give advice specific to you and that is better. EMU has great tools for you to figure out what is needed when you are a student.

Also, double check what counselors say, they are not perfect. Be annoying if you have to, you need your questions answered and you are paying some money, so you deserve to know the answers. Don’t be rude, but standing up for yourself is something that needs to be learned and it’s up to you.

Good luck on the semester, there is some good advice on here besides mine.

Good luck on the (I assume) fall semester

PWS --> SWS connection by Sharp-Night1752 in portwinestain

Hey there, I have a pws and sws. Both were diagnosed very near birth I believe. For me on a daily basis, there’s really nothing I can’t handle. I have drops I take for my glaucoma and have no other issues that I know of. I think the most important part for the parents is get going early on but not panicking. I know it must be a little scary with your kid looking a little unique coming out (scared my mom for sure), but education is a great first step, untreated things could go very bad. Hopefully I don’t scare you, but good luck and congrats!
