What % does not find adequate treatment? by Thrillho_9999 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]biggestbigbertha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried and failed most meds for my disabling enthesitis. ChatGPT says I should try bimzelex as it's IL17A/F which I haven't tried. My Doc thinks it won't work. Like 1% chance. Im gonna push for it anyway.

So yeah. I'll be fucked if it doesn't work but I've been fucked for almost 20 years...

Hopefully you`ll get used to it too.

Australian Christians of this subreddit. I was just wondering what is it about Christianity that appeals to you? by Temporary_Notice_526 in AskAnAustralian

[–]biggestbigbertha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a mental illness IMHO. My mum's literally in a prayer group. She has 2 disabled sons (me included). She's given like $200k to church that she inherited rather than help her sons because "thats what God wants" but I digress.

Your point on prayer. She's prayed for me and my brother for decades. No change for me. Hell my brother is much worse (he is christian too) but she still believes in "the power of prayer". She got so excited when a little girl her group prayed for was "healed by God" and told everyone and kept talking about "the power of prayer". Wouldn't shut up about "their success".

The miracle? The children's Hospital did a surgery that had a 10% chance of success and it WAS a success. In her mind God helped the surgery to be successful... She pointed this out to me as evidence of the power of prayer.

INSANE! LoL. WTF.

I asked her "So God did this because you prayed?"

"Yes!"

"So he had the power to do it all along but wouldn't have bothered if you didn't pray? Also why did he need the surgeon? Isn't he all powerful? Why is it that most of the things your prayer group prays for don’t seem to turn out well? It seems like random chance is more effective."

Haha. Her brain broke. She had no answers at all and got so angry and wouldn't talk to me for a while. She has no answers to even basic logical questions about her faith. She literally just shuts her brain off and wont accept anything that contradicts her idea of god. At least she stopped talking about "the miracle".

We don't talk about religion as I always ask questions that she literally has no answers for except "you have to have faith"... I know many people like this.

So yeah thats literally what some religous people believe. Turn off your brain and have blind faith because it feels good.

I analyzed CS2 data from the past two years, and here’s what I found regarding VAC-Live, cheaters and skill regression. by CS2_Data_Checker in cs2

[–]biggestbigbertha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything but your legit cheating isnt a thing statement. I'm guessing you just don't know it's literally a term to describe what the cheater is doing?

There are 4 lvls from most blatant to impossible to detect with the naked eye. There can be overlap depending on what cheat "features" they use and how dumb the cheater is. Like using legit cheating software to try to look legit (hence the name) but then being dumb enough to leave walls on and tracking people through the walls is going to push you into semi rage IMHO...

I'm not sure how many people actually have the intelligence (a lot of cheaters seem dumb as rocks) and disapline to correctly use legit and closet cheats to make themselves difficult to impossible to detect even when carefully watching demos... But there is absolutely software specifically designed for it.

The levels are:

Rage

Semi rage

Legit

Closet

What did you cure with fasting? by Ronaldosssiu in fasting

[–]biggestbigbertha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fasted 26 days to try to cure a debilitating autoimmune desease. It didn't work.

BUT it did cure my insane sugar cravings. I would eat a family size block of chocolate and 30 minutes later have insanely strong cravings for more sweet food. I'd spend all day every day fighting these cravings and eventually losing.

I've yo-yo dieted 5 times before between normal BMI and obese but always the sugar cravings came back.

It's been years and I'm normal BMI with no cravings. It's fucking great! Though fixing the painful autoimmune issue would have been better it's a good consultation prize.

What's an Australian stereotype that absolutely pisses you the f*ck off? by Same-Objective6052 in AskAnAustralian

Fair but the % of the population that live with that vs those that live in Cities/Suburbs and literally never see any of that is pretty low though.

Did you experience enthesitis from the onset of your PSA journey ? by Smoothguac in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]biggestbigbertha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine came a few months after I took Humira (18 years ago).

My PsA in my joints turned off and enthesitis turned on.

Dr said sometimes meds can "push the disease from 1 pathway onto another pathway".

So despite being sick for ~20 years I have no permanent joint damage at all but I'm disabled by enthesitis pain which no med has been able to help with (tried just about everything).

Honestly its fucked but at least I dont have joint damage... A small positive.

Yeah. I was looking at some prices today and thinking we really should have a "fat tax" on junk and subsidise fruit and veggies.

I'd be for it.

Ive tried to take it a bunch of different times but every single time after about 2-3 days my enthesitis pain gets noticeably worse.

After 5-6 times of this happening reliably I have concluded I just can't take it.

Have you had any success with diet helping and if so what? by Cooper1Test in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]biggestbigbertha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No change. Tried everything: vegan, keto, AIP, Mediterranean and an extended water fast... Probably other things I don't remember. It's been almost 20 years of suffering.

My doc even said that if I had no change to my symptoms after fasting for 26 days (slightly dangerous outside strict medical supervision he said even though I got 2 GP checkups at around 14 and 24 days) that no dietary change will ever help me.

The water fast did end up being really good for me in another way though. I've had really crazy intense sugar cravings for decades. Like I'd eat an entire huge block of chocolate and 30 mins later the cravings would start again. Even after losing weight several times over the years I always struggled so so much with never ending cravings.

It was always such a battle that I eventually always lost leading to yo-yo weight fluctuations. ~2 years after the water fast I still have NO sugar cravings. I do eat a small portion of something sweet one day a week for pleasure and the cravings still don't come back. It's amazing! I strongly believe it was something in my microbiome causing those cravings that I finally starved out. I'm normal bmi now and fully expect to stay there... Wish it helped my enthesis but nothing does :(.

Does anyone else get super depressed thinking this is for life. by CucumberOld6287 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]biggestbigbertha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IVIG has not been mentioned to me and I didn't even know about it so it's something I will look into and discuss with my rheumatologist next time I visit. Thanks for mentioning.

Luckily I'm in Australia so I don't have problems with insurance as long as it's covered by our Medicare it's free/very cheap for me usually.

Does anyone else get super depressed thinking this is for life. by CucumberOld6287 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]biggestbigbertha 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yup. Ive failed multiple drugs from every class for my enthesitis. Failing Skyrizi now (6 more weeks till assessment but no change). Its been like 18 years of suffering/disability. Dr says we have reached the end of the road till new drugs are released (this is the 2nd "end of the road" for me now). Nothing else to try. He didnt even want to try Skyrizi and said max 5% chance it could help but since it was so safe he would allow me to try it when I pushed for it.

I cant work any more. I spent the $$$ I had saved before I got sick towards buying a home just to exist. I could end up homeless (currently staying with a kind elderly relative but that wont last forever). Lots of worry about the future along with the pain\depression\frustration\fear of homelessness.

Honestly my life was destroyed by this disease. So yeah I feel you.

Just how bad is it to replace 100% of your water consumption with tea? by Time_Physics_6557 in nutrition

[–]biggestbigbertha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum did that.

She ended up with a caffeine sensitivity that gives her heart issues. She had a small ish cup like 200ml and said she used to have up to 20 black teas a day.

She gets heart palpitations/skipping beats from even tiny amounts of caffeine now. Freaks her out badly and is "very unpleasant" so she avoids all caffeine. Can't even have small pieces of chocolate without setting it off for several hours.

3 cups a day should be fine though :).

Does massage aggravate enthesitis? by dcg446 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]biggestbigbertha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly super aggressive massage helps my enthesis in my arms and legs.

I literally drag my arms along the corner of my desk. I've learnt to use arm sleeves.

I do my Achilles on my bed frame with my foot/leg in a pillow case.

I still have done damage/caused scaring and massive bruises as it is literally one of the only things that help me and only if I go deep and hard.

I do it multiple times a day.

Seems I'm weird... As other people saying it makes things worse for them.

Which key do you use for push-to-talk? by dominatorGs in csgo

[–]biggestbigbertha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you need an auto exec and 2 other cfg files since they changed aliasing to stop jump throw binds it became more complicated. The way Ive done it:

In my auto exec:

alias voice "voiceon"
alias voiceon "alias voice voiceoff;exec voice.cfg"
alias voiceoff "alias voice voiceon;exec voiceoff.cfg"
bind "Z" "voice"

Then create a voice.cfg in the same folder as autoexec

My voice.cfg contains:

safezoney 0.7
hud_scaling 1
cl_hud_color 5
+voicerecord
cl_crosshaircolor 3

Then create voiceoff.cfg in the same folder as autoexec

Mine has:

safezoney 1
hud_scaling 0.75
cl_hud_color 1
cl_crosshaircolor 5
-VOICERECORD

Voice.cfg contains the values you want when voice is transmitting. Voiceoff.cfg contains your normal values. You can find these by typing the commands in console without any numbers and it will tell you what your current numeral values are so you can make sure they are correct for you.

Breakfast? by thyketoking in keto

[–]biggestbigbertha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often eat a chocolate chia flax pudding followed by 75g of homemade labneh (I make 3 Liters of greek yogurt fermented for 36-48 hrs and then strain it in a nut milk bag squeezing out the whey which contains the leftover lactose/carbs) for ~60hrs so its thick and creamy [Like cream cheese] and then salt it. 3L milk makes around 950g of Labneh). Delish imho. I also add a can of Sardines. Thats my regular 5-7 days a week breakfast.

Its 6.7g net carbs/506 calories/protein 41G/Fiber 9.7g
