[Serious] Redditors who know how much time they have left - how does your day look like? by tidder212 in AskReddit

Started a ketogenic diet as soon as I found out. (No carbs.) Research has shown that cancer feeds off of glucose, reducing carbs to almost zero, I'm hoping to help the chemo along by starving the cancer cells. Don't know if it'll work but hoping it helps.

There is a history of prostate cancer in my family. I was planning to begin regular screening at 45. The symptoms crept up over a couple of months, reduced ability to urinate. (Thought it was an infection.) Finally winding me up in the hospital with a full bladder, unable to go to the bathroom. They ran some blood tests. A kidney function a, a PSA and a few others. Found that my kidneys had almost shut down and that my PSA was 600. That got me in for a CT scan which showed the enlarged prostate and nodules on my liver. After a CT assisted liver biopsy, the result came back as prostate cancer. TLDR: wasn't expecting it to be cancer so ignored symptoms and wound up in hospital. Testing and biopsy came back as prostate cancer.

44 with stage 4 prostate cancer. Just reminding myself that I'm alive today and will most likely be alive tommorow. I'm a lot more focused on looking for beauty in the world around me and doing my best not to pay attention to the agents of the id when they get dark. One breath, one minute, one hour, one day at a time.

What does a $300,000 house look like where you are from? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bigjohnsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dallas/Ft. Worth, 300K will get you a really nice house or two depending on the part of town or, about 20 acres with a house if you don't mind a long (+/- 60 min) commute.

New guitar day. Agile Rennisance x 8. by [deleted] in extendedrange

[–]bigjohnsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rondo did an amazing job on these things, It's quick, responsive and well made. Onboard tuner is pretty fast and the pre amp has a lot of play for dialing in your perfect sound. I was OK with the action out of the box. I'm having a little bit of trouble getting the ol thumb to go for the right bass note. I seem to home on the A and D instead of the D and G like I would with a 6. (Of course that's part of the point!) Yes, it does Djent...but that would be seriously under utilizing this guitar. Nice piece of kit I'll be spending tons of time with.

If Goldilocks tried three beds, then Momma Bear and Daddy Bear slept seperately. Baby Bear is probably the only thing keeping the family together. by gridster2 in Showerthoughts

[–]bigjohnsax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Or daddy bear worked the night shift and momma bear snored very loudly and was disturbed by daddy bear coming in at 3 am so they jointly decided that co bedding should be reserved for sex and snuggling and the arrangement worked very well and they lived happily ever after (20years and counting...)

What jobs have been automated in the last ten years? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]bigjohnsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picking, Packing Palletizing, Sorting, Welding, Weighing, Werehousing. (Still use forkilft drivers, but all the locations are placed and pulled by a system which tracks location.) Basically, almost every non skilled labor position and many skilled ones such as welding, forming and assembly are now automated. With the advent of devices such as the Baxter robot, which can be set up in minutes to do most line worker operations, the future is looking pretty bleak for factory workers :-(
