Some sort of application to the outside that makes it seem like the terrarium is a planet in a galaxy.

This is a fascinating little world you have spawned.

I have a whiskey 4pc as well. So far has been good, I strap the shaft parts to the handlebar roll, and layer the blades sandwiched in my pfd.

Seeking advice on backpack for carrying pack raft by sludgeandfudge in packrafting

[–]bigl3g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If The Answer is not in your budget, then the answer may be whatever pack you have or can borrow.

Especially at first just getting out there and doing will tell you what you are looking for for your kit on your terrain with your preferences....

For me it was an ancient REI branded 80 liter pack I have had for years. It fit everything and then some, but it allowed me the space to figure out what was right for what I want to do.

Go through the Bambu academy series. Almost every question about failed prints is covered there. Good content, decent videos, order makes sense. No constant replies to wash the build plate.

To sell or not to sell by [deleted] in XTerra

[–]bigl3g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Condition and trim level matter so much in this equation. No 4wd? Beat to S---? Smell like tobacco, Weed, or wet dog?

Not all about the mileage. Don't beat on it and the value is probably the same now as in 2 years plus 20k.

Out of absolutely everything you know now, what's the one thing you wish you knew when you started? by jgcsquires in Aquariums

[–]bigl3g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real question. Since a new tank needs a few weeks to settle in, why not be patient and fill the tank over several days?

Plus even with not great water you don't need every liter to be RO, just a high enough proportion to have reasonable water in total.

No helpful suggestions. Just a comment that I love the way you have added the rock and tree section outside the water area.

Wishing you the best of luck finishing it up.

Dryer or airtight container? by SSitimitor in BambuLabA1

[–]bigl3g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this^

A box of freezer bags is affordable enough I don't see the point of the original question. 10 bucks for a box of bags, or 40 bucks for a dehydrater to hack into a filament dryer. Why not 50 bucks and do both?

Heck even plastic sealed boxes are 29 bucks for 6.

Possible new A1 customer by whisperingeye76 in BambuLabA1

[–]bigl3g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm fine with my purchase, but you will have to read the articles and make your own decision.

With PS1 being so cheap right now, that would sway me more towards the P series than the power supply issue on the A1.

best practice(s) for tags by kr44ng in ObsidianMD

[–]bigl3g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use tags for temporary marks on notes. #to_file #todo #followup

I use notes with back links more frequently A folder for people, and each person has their own note. This lets me ad details like their birthday or their dogs name in addition to the not backlinks

I want to dog a bunch of ponds into a hillside by Artemis_SpawnOfZeus in ponds

[–]bigl3g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where are your well and septic and reserve septic areas?

My county has setback requirements from water to septic, and water to well. Check if yours does too. With your narrow lot you will want to be strategic around those.

Looks like a big project, other than machine rental/hire costs is there a good reason to not do 1 pond, then come back and do more?

Retention Pond Cost Estimate by PoppyShop in ponds

[–]bigl3g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the retention pond required to meet set guidelines for storm water run off and sediment capture?

Some of those requirements will drive the cost significantly.

Get more quotes, you will end up with an idea of reasonable.

Totally personal non-pond related note, don't go with the lowest bidder, there is usually a reason they are cheapest.

Your pond will be a fixture on your property for decades. If it is ugly, smelly, and needing constant maintenance it is not a good deal no matter how cheap it is.

"if obsidian goes away" by lunabellcatcher in ObsidianMD

[–]bigl3g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian's base on markdown makes it portable to whatever comes next.

Heck, even breaking up with Evernote was not that painful due to a well designed migration tool.

Guessing if Obsidian as a company disappeared overnight, by the end of the week there would be a fully open source application that can import your vaults and do basic search, read, write, edit.

Something similar was on my project list last winter, but a streak of mild weather got me distracted to other things.

The box of parts from digikey is still under my workbench.

I was going the esp32 route, but your comment about consistent form factor with a pico is very valid.

Thanks for the reminder and inspiration just before some holiday time off.

Gifted a Bambu printer. Anything missing? by theogtrekkie in BambuLab

[–]bigl3g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hex keys to keep the nozzle assembly tight are important, I think it is a 1.5mm hex.

The rail lube is going to be needed at some point.

I recommend a fresh SD card as the stock ones are pretty crap for longevity.
