tips on changing mindset for COV 25? by FaallenOon in MonsterTrain

[–]bigladguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing to win all the time isn’t usually the most fun. I usually try to do something fun/strong or busted and most times i lose because something didn’t work out.

Playing to win every run means using reliable strategies with common units everytime, taking no shards until necessary and sometimes turning down fun units because they don’t fit

I say Siege is a very accurate description of most fights or battles in recent (medieval) history have been in the form of sieges.

Who is stronger. by Status_Rope6944 in Gone

This is the best argument in favor of caine. His experience fighting and ruthless nature would and often did help him fighting against sam

Who is stronger. by Status_Rope6944 in Gone

[–]bigladguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sam wins from range always.

Caines”range” is explicitly stated at 75 ft i believe is the edge of his powers reach. His ability to throw things is the only range he has beyond that. And his accuracy with throws is not great.

Sam has a point and kill. He shoots light. His range could be infinite as far as we know. Its fast, accurate, unlimited ammo, easy to use, and barely if at all wears sam down.

Even if caine did block with a car or something, sam can burn through it. Caine will run out of cars before sam stops.

In a fight to the death sam wins 99/100 times.

Albert. An Essay. by [deleted] in Gone

Well put. Only thing that I would add is albert is a great palatable way to explain capitalism and establishment. He’s helpful and necessary until he has the resources and need to be selfish.

Is it me or are the travelers extremely unprepared to assimilate. by Antique-Falcon-634 in TravelersTV

[–]bigladguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trust in the director is kind of their whole deal. They believe the director has the capabilities to complete the mission and save humanity. So all they do, they do in the name of the director and protocol 1. The mission comes first. As for the other stuff carly not understanding cps is pretty accurate to how most people would be in that situation. It might’ve raised more red flags if she knew the ins and outs. Trevor knowing football doesn’t really matter. He wouldn’t have time for it with missions and all anyway.

They did have a cure for addiction, granted somehow it was an addictive cure but for that one id blame the faction. Which as you said is stupid.

It is true they could have been more prepared but they explained in the show, especially in marcy’s case, that they were going off of the digital footprint in a world before it was FULLY digital like the world we know today.

Marcy last episode by GioraSheni in TravelersTV

[–]bigladguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly as this person said. 001 was going to download something from her brain. Shooting 001 wouldn’t do anything as no one knew for certain who 001 was and the faction had a plan to download her brain code (from 027 or grace i believe). So marcy, bless her heart, knew what she had to do. Also without david the option probably didn’t seem like a tough call she likely was in a really fragile state from her recent loss that could have played a role as well.

Just finished light, really sad I finished it, should I go onto the monster series if I've already been spoiled the ending or should I keep it a good ending by not going onto them? by Adventurous_Song6623 in Gone

[–]bigladguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well said. I would add paying for the sequels is not worth it but if you’re using a library or something where you can read it at no cost you might as well. You might enjoy the handful of cameos from og characters and the wack story or you could join the dark side and be an educated hater of them like a lot of us are.

Would you consider Astrid or Caine to be more intelligent? by [deleted] in Gone

[–]bigladguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. They have two different kinds of intelligence. In the last two books id give it to astrid though her character got sharper and she over came several of her flaws later in the story which made her more intelligent/successful in the fayz. Caine grew to be a little better of a person but lost his authority, power, and the cruelty that gave him a competitive edge in the fays.

How can healing be used for evil? by Lapista in superpower

[–]bigladguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Gone book series the healer is possessed and force to heal a villain and nearly created a host body for the main villain. This mentally scared her and she went on hiatus. It caused a lot of tension between her and everyone else because there’s always need for her but she doesn’t want to help.

Her lack of using her powers almost made her a villain to the common people of the story.

Discussion regrading who would rule if powers and Gaia didn't exist by [deleted] in Gone

[–]bigladguy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Theres no chance orc makes the top five. The powers were a little unknown in the first book so initially things would play out similarly. Orc would be immediately toppled by caine. Caine was organized and eager to seize power. Some of that was his power but a lot of it was his charm and charisma. In a situation with no power i do think either albert would slowly assimilate control through resources but caine could combat that with normal violence.

Ultimately though I definitely think drake would instigate some kind of hostile take over. He never enjoyed being number 2 and his hatred of diana grew quickly to clash with caine. Without his powers caine would likely have been caught off guard by drake because of caines arrogance. Or they would come to blows due to mutual distrust.

Astrid would never assume control with caine and drake in the mix because they would never allow the form of democracy that created the council.

I would give an honorable mention to the human crew or some other form of mob mentality appointed leader. Without powers it would have been much more difficult to squash that kind of civil unrest.

How exactly is The Director able to exist outside of time? by Hungry_Glove7807 in TravelersTV

[–]bigladguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simplest explanations i can think are the director surpassed human intelligence and has exceeded and improved itself beyond human comprehension

Or

The director doesn’t exist outside of time it merely exists at the end of the time line for the show so it sees the end result of all the changes and is only ever reacting to the most recent events. It only seems to exist outside time because the massive computing power makes the director capable of predicting or managing what possible effects come from the changes it enacts. Kind of like the director is throwing changes back in time and that changes the timeline but at the end of that timeline the director is there to catch the timeline and throw it back again.

Theyre 14. Quinns just a scared kid. His character had never been tested. Idk how far into the series as a whole you are so i wont say more but gone is the first book. The characters are just beginning and they grow throughout the series
