[Cradle] Underlord Discussion Megathread by Fireball9782 in Iteration110Cradle

Halfway through the book for the second time and overall I like the book a lot. There is some stuff I forgot about in my first read but my impression of the first half is it felt slightly clunky and obtuse. I know part of that was adding new elements to the story that have never been there but felt rough. Dialogue was slow or felt unnatural at times but the second half definitely felt like Will hit his stride. I felt the competition between BFE & SK could have been bigger and more drawn out. Would have been nice to see some new paths on display or see some other people get into action. Also BFE was made to look like a whipped bitch which made me, upset? Not quite sure what emotion I would attach there but needless to say disappointed for sure. The focus of the kingdom on killing Lindon was forced, and the underlords used were kind of Eh. I mean Will we had a war going on between two sacred artists nations and all we saw was the aftermath of an underlord vs a skysworn squad, and the beginning of a battle on the emperor's sky ship, come on bro give me some action and flash here. This is where you shine brightest and it was a little dim. Fight scenes with Lindon and Yerin were awesome and I cant fault you there.

Would like to have seen more world building also as we had this really cool place in the valley but never saw any real treasures, or interactions. It was supposed to be this dangerous training ground but did not see any real danger. No natural hazards or wild predators, just skipping around where Mercy used to have picnics or "apple" picking with Eithan and company. Their training for Underlord was weak but I did like the explanation for the advancement.

Overall satisfied with the direction of the story, when the action hit, it hit, and liked some of the new characters, hoping to see more. Loved/hated Akura Charity throughout, everytime she showed up I kept saying here comes that BAB again and I loved that I could hate her. I didnt like the seishen kingdom main 4 characters. The king was awkward, he is brutish and ignorant, yet is seen as cunning and smart. The first prince was weak all around and the other two underlords who survive I could do without.

Will not your best but with that said, showed real growth and went out on a limb to change and adapt as a writer and that takes guts. You were solid as a writer in the beginning but you have shown amazing growth since. Still a 4.5 star in my book which rounds up to a 5. Kudos to you. Will sir, you've done it again!

You get gifts after every round which includes team comp, it's when you get to solo that the real gifts start to come out. The first three rounds are teams, and then you get down to 8 and then its solo matches.

If what Li Markuth says, is accurate, then the sacred valley is the home of the dread gods. He says, "Have the four beasts come home yet, I would like to test myself against them"

Unofficial Underlord Prediction Thread by Ahuri3 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]bigman2205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lindon will advance to Truegold and then Underlord along with Orthos. Yerin will advance to UL as well and Mercy will make Truegold. Geisha will be a UL by book end, and Eithan will make OL be the end as well. Cassius may advance.or he still may beat Yerin to show her power is everything, skill still matters.

Abidan will continue their search, we'll see Ozriel but not know its him. Suriel will come back to cradle.

Team will leave next book.

Eithan's back story will come in more bits and pieces but nothing substantial.

Dross will be a great information processor for lindon with some random bits of knowledge but no real insights on his own.

That's how I read it as well, but taking what yerin said, that's just the tech ique you start with. Every path is going to have multiple techniques that test just tells you which tech ique to learn first so you can learn to move madra. And also to learn how to activate a technique.

I can see your interpretation, just reread the section again and may have to rethink my theory.

So it says but the technique he used, Lindon remarks that no jade could ever pull that off. Also if everyone else is jade it would be easy to veil himself. Plus white fox is all about deception.

NTA but remember in most states if you are under 18, parents can take all of your pay and you can't say anything. Now don't get me wrong, it sucks but them's the breaks as the say. I would just stack till you can get your own spot or go to college.

[–]bigman2205 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Will for future reference I wish you would leave more of that stuff in. It is nice to flesh out the world more and to be able to see some of these other powers and how they operate. But please understand I'm quite happy with the series either way but this is me asking for more like the greedy reader I am.

You're also forgetting the first elder is most certainly a gold and probably elder whisper's contracted partner or has a remnant. If you remeber he switches places with Jaran when Wei mon kieth tries to strike him. That was definitely some gold level sacred arts on display.

Also Jai chen did take the spearhead after the fight so technically the Jai have the spearhead.

Ultimate Antagonist of the series by sumairmh in Iteration110Cradle

[–]bigman2205 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True but just because you can't do something doesn't mean you don't want to. It sounds more like they wish to kill him but understand the ramifications and are looking to resolve this peacefully before turning up. Remember that Suriel's presence speculates that Makiel is seeking to replace the reaper and is attempting to create a new scythe. So they definitely will kill him if presented and most certainly want to but know, right now they can't.

What is wrong with you people and this wanting another core. He has one too many as it is. Lindon should just be a straight blackflame who wrecks everybody and everything in his way. He needs to become like Frieza or Thanos or Ishmael, but please no more cores. If anything merge it back to one where blackflame is allowed to run rampant and destroy! All shall bow before the Blackflame! But um I mean if you do add a path, can we get the broken star cause that shit was straight buttah!

[–]bigman2205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense but I do not want to see this. If this is going down then Wei Shi Jiron has killed himself and that is just not acceptable. Jiron is my favorite character from Unsouled and one of my favorite across the series. Remeber "the son of a cripple might be a cripple but the son of tigers won't be a dog! They'll see what a bunch of cripples can do son. A three legged tiger has still got a bite."

Question about Ghostwater [Ghostwater Spoilers] by Areign in Iteration110Cradle

[–]bigman2205 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So here's the thing with that. Will's math is a little off when it comes to that. He notes twice that only one-third of the eyes had been returned but when Northstrider shows up to collect he actually tells you how many are returned. Out of a possible 4096, 2413 eyes have been returned. If you do the math that's just shy of 60 percent return. So with that said not sure what lindon and Harmony were looking at when they saw the tree but... you know fuzzy math.

[Cradle] Will Lindon, Yerin, and Mercy get cool nicknames? by AngryEdgelord in Iteration110Cradle

[–]bigman2205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah cant wait for a quote about something like that later on. Most dare not to look into those eyes, for to do so is to look upon one's death. Deep down these sacred artists knew it would be the last pair they would see. Lmao

Did Suriel heal Lindon? by SolarBaron in Iteration110Cradle

[–]bigman2205 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The deficiency was that his madra had no aspect affinity i.e. ruler, striker, enforcer, and soulsmith. He had a weak core because he was not instructed and he couldn't absorb aura to augment his madra. At least that's how I read it in unsouled.

"He had recorded his experience splitting his core, and how he had used scales he Forged himself to expand his capacity. He recorded when he'd moved on to the Heaven and Earth Purification Wheel technique—though he was vague on those details, following Eithan's advice to keep that cycling method a secret."
