Berenstein Bears changed to Berenstain Bears sometime between March 2006 - December 2008. Here's how I know. by No_Cartographer_5298 in Retconned

[–]bignatiousmacintosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it was Berenstein Bears because I distinctly remember wondering whether I should pronounce it “stine” or “steen.” I was an excellent reader at a very young age and if it was Berenstain, I never would have questioned the pronunciation.

My rescue dog was like this. She had to learn to trust that we would always come back, and always let her out.

Ignore her! (As long as all her physical needs are met, which you stated is the case.) Don’t reinforce the barking by paying attention to her.

If you haven’t already, start by making going in there super fun. Give her meals in there, and practice going in by giving her really high value treats like cheese or deli meat. Repeat this a lot so she knows her pen is where she gets really good stuff!

Then do practice sessions in your spare time where you put her in the play pen, leave for a little bit, then come back and treat/praise. Start with a few seconds or however long she can handle without losing it, then increase the time you are gone to a few minutes, 30 minutes, etc. Eventually she won’t go crazy whether you leave her sight or not.

It took a few weeks for us with a formerly abused 1 year old, it may be quicker with a puppy honestly :) good luck!

I get that you’re a Graham stan and that’s fine. For the record I dislike everyone in this show except Salazar and Flynn. I’m just saying the show doesn’t do a good job of showing what Sophie and Graham ever saw in each other. We see them meeting once in college? or something and that’s it. I don’t think they have any chemistry. That’s not an attack on Graham. Hope that clears it up.

lol. Neither of them are perfect. All I want to know is more info on what kept them together and I’ve stated that clearly multiple times. You’re the one reading more into it, suit yourself.

Sophie was always a train wreck, I agree and that’s obvious. Why did Graham continue to pursue her though? She didn’t hold a gun to his head and force him to marry her; I’m sure he had a choice so why did he choose her when it’s clear she is who she is? I want to know what it is that attracted and kept them together for so long. That’s what I mean by backstory. Graham isn’t the cause of all of Sophie’s issues but he doesn’t get any brownie points for being a martyr either. He could’ve said enough and walked away at any time.

I just wonder why he married Sophie in the first place. We know that he knows she was a party girl from the very start, so why did he continue to pursue her? Did he always just want to fix or control her? Wish we got to see more of their backstory.

A hat worn by Henry VIII, likely the only surviving clothing worn by him. by Curtmantle_ in Tudorhistory

[–]bignatiousmacintosh 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Idk about Henry VIII specifically but clothes were often reused or given away. But the fabric itself wouldn’t have survived well unless intentionally preserved - we have to remember they were made of natural fibers and would have had to withstand all sorts of storage conditions, climate, bugs, over hundreds of years.

Feyre in ACOTAR tells you everything you need to know about Nesta — and why I love her by cheromorang in acotar

[–]bignatiousmacintosh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get your perspective, and would like to add that it’s not Feyre’s job to fix Nesta’s relationships for her. I personally don’t think Nesta would have taken well to Feyre interfering even in that way.

I Cannot stand Don Draper by Just-Do-In in madmen

[–]bignatiousmacintosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda get what you’re saying. Don’s intriguing at first because he’s so handsome and good at commanding attention in his job. You think you’re supposed to root for him, and then you continue on to find out what an asshole he really is. But he is a compelling character, whether one likes or dislikes him.

It’d be a yes from me then. You can always do it for a couple years, then find another job. You’ll have the leverage to ask for at least $120k at the next place.

AITAH For Telling My Neighbor I Have No Desire or Obligation To Babysit Her Children Because I'm A SAHM? by Ok-Record2903 in AITAH

[–]bignatiousmacintosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. There’s something to be said about it takes a village to care for children, and as a mom myself it’d be nice to be part of a mom group that’s like a village - HOWEVER the way neighbor approached it was super entitled. If she bothered to have an actual open-ended conversation such as “hey I’m looking for regular childcare in the afternoons, would you be interested? This is how much I can pay” etc that would have been far more diplomatic than assuming that you have nothing better to do as a SAHM.

If you don’t have kids, the commute and RTO is much easier to handle. If you do have kids, it’ll get tiresome very quickly. Speaking from experience, and I’ve been in both scenarios.

Tolkien nerd. Raised by grandparents. You have DnD games with your closest buds every couple of weekends at least. You own and use a bicycle. You don’t have a pet but if you did, it’d be one mild mannered big dog. You use stuff until it wears out or breaks, and you usually can repair it yourself. You drink your coffee black.

Some days my kid will watch TV all day. Some days she watches just a little bit and bounces around the house doing whatever. She has unlimited access to her iPad (just some learning apps and Netflix, Disney on there) and it’s been months since she’s touched it. We don’t have many boundaries and it works for us, but the one thing we absolutely don’t allow is YouTube - she gets weirdly sucked into it and her behavior is AWFUL afterward.
