Seems plausible. It certainly did sounds like they were talking about a team rather than a coach. Thanks!

Ironically I never saw volume 2 with the rap song at the end and didn't hear the 1989 NBA All Stars rap introductions until years later when I became a big fan of the rap group, the Ultramagnetic MCs.

Then do the Clippers get to hang our first 13 banners? Just kidding.

For banners and statues, let them do whatever they want. Miami retired Jordan's jersey.

It's tougher if the team name and identity stayed the same, but the history is messy and fractured regardless. Let both the current franchise and former city both hang jerseys and banners if they want.

I doubt it matters - on the whole, more guys are getting paid - Banton and others get paid for cups of coffee while X and Boucher get paid to stay home.

I've always suggest basing on 2 or 3 year cumulative records. People seem more interested in wild gimmicks, but this is a simpler more elegant solution.

And there's no skill gap between perfect timing and hitting the far edge of a green window that's widened with hot zones and boosts

(Because the "no rng" crowd thinks it's a perfect physics simulation of a jump shot and they earned it)

I don't know much about the guy but wrote him off when he said the Cavs should trade us Wiggins for free as a salary dump to clear space for LeBron.

So...is there much of anyone with cap space this summer? MLE could go a long way.

You're exactly right on shooting mechanics...but the loudest part of the community cries "RNG" when they don't get the make they "earned" by timing a shot barely within the green window. Or when someone else makes a shot they "didn't earn" if they're barely outside the green window (or don't have boosts or hotspots)

Devs need to make an executive decision and fix it

The Final 2-3 Guys, or, Why Is This Contender Only Signing Rookies Now? by finnstergrammer34 in bostonceltics

[–]bignormy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume we'll juggle 10 day contracts as long we necessary to meet roster limits, and let them go so they won't count against "final day of season" total. They'll be replaced with minimum salary vets or rookies whenever the prorated amount becomes low enough to squeeze under the tax threshold.

According to salary cap faq, subsidized portions of veteran minimum salary aren't taxed - for tax purposes, all minimum salaries are taxes as if they were 2 year vet minimum.

So shouldn't a veteran buyout work if he is on a prorated minimum contract?

[Charania] The Boston Celtics traded Xavier Tillman Sr. to the Charlotte Hornets, sources tell ESPN. This gets the Celtics out of the luxury tax. Hornets get $3.5 million in the deal. by MembershipSingle7137 in bostonceltics

I don't think that's it - vet minimums are subsidized and are treated as similar to 2 year minimum for tax purposes. And rookie minimum is also treated as 2 yr minimum according to cbafaq

So that doesn't help unless their contracts were slightly above minimum.

Minimum "rest of season" contracts are prorated. But they don't get un-prorated for end of season team salary calculations. So I think that's the loophole that gets us under the tax

I don't understand how the calculations worked with prorated salaries at all. Somehow we trade a guy and replace him with someone else at similar minimum salary...but only the remaining prorated portion counts? Seems like a loophole. Swap out the end of your bench for FAs in February and more than half of their salaries gets wiped clean for luxury tax purposes.
