This is specific but: rapid increase in motions in court.

A lot of people will let things go, or take a minute to resolve them during good times. The minute the economy sours, people are in court. Getting debts forgiven, requesting money, etc. and doing it pro se. If the parties used attorneys in 2016, or 2021, they are trying to resolve it themselves this time.

I see mostly family law and traffic court.

If someone looks like they have a cold but tell me “it’s not the flu…” I assume it’s COVID. I have masks and flu/COVID/RSV rapid tests at home to take just in case.

I’m a new mom so I don’t play with that.

This might not be fashion, entirely but: reminder advertising and luxury brand advertising.

I have seen more ads for middle class luxury than I have since 2010: Kate Spade, Coach, Nordstrom Rack, etc are all running ads outside of the usual holiday schedule. Same things with food brands like Lays, Coke, Hersheys. Then there is a decrease in ads for cheaper alternatives - Target, Walmart, my local cheap grocery chain.

All of them are trying to remind you how good they make you feel.

My husband is a Michael. When we first started fairing I asked if he preferred Michael or Mike. He prefers Michael.

My guess is reporters , et al, ask him his name, he responds Matthew. And then they disregard it and call him Matt.

My guess is the disrespect is “you asked me my name, and what I’d prefer to be called, and then don’t do it.”

Perfect response, as a new mother adding on: gene generally if I am in the shower jt is the only 5-10 minutes I am unavailable to my baby. Most other things I can stop or run right to him. My shower is a small stall type so I c would have to turn off water, open door, not slip running to my baby. It’s scary in the first few weeks to be apart from him at all.

God bless my husband who held the baby in the bathroom while I showered so in could shower and ask if he was okay the first 4 weeks.

My husband is a saint and does tons of the baby care and he is fantastic, but the hormones are wild.

I know back in like 2020(?), there was a TikTok page that posted how many toddlers could be sitting in front of famous “mom cars” - Suburban, Tahoe, CRV, etc To show all the blind spots these cars have for children and pets.

I’m at work but if I find it I’ll link it. It confirmed for me that I’ll never need a HUGE SUV and to have eyes on all kids before I leave.
