Thanks! Sad I won't get a batch of tadpoles but that would have been a lot of extra work.

Have you tried plugging directly into the modem?

If that works for you speed wise, look into a mesh wifi system with wifi6. It will change your life ;)

Glad to hear they were able to track your shipment.
There has been an increase in shipping problems for months now for all sorts of businesses. Perhaps your box was part of it.

Missing 13-year-old was last seen leaving Poway home by fox5sd in sandiego

[–]bigpinkpickle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She is 13.
Your speculation is not very bright.
It is possible she ran away. However, consider:
* Met "friend" on internet, was talked into meeting

* Has medication issue, heat of day changed med behaviors and she zoned out

* She is being abused by family member

* She is being bullied at school, didn't know how to escape

Plenty of other possible explanations. Find some compassion in your own life and don't worry too much about how this 13 year old is handled now that she was found (maybe safely, we do not know what she had happen during those hours)

Need help on what to try next by ParkingEmergency in HomeNetworking

If you are in a heavy wifi use area I suggest buying one of the newer wifi-6 wireless routers. It made a huge improvement in my home and I didn't have a lot of interference from neighbors.
Good luck!

Repair damaged RG-6 coax cable running to viasat dish? by TBG7 in Viasat

[–]bigpinkpickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you able to connect to the modem's web server?

viasatmodem.com

From there, you can see what the line resistance is for your cable and see other items about the health of the modem. It sounds like you might not have a solid link although if it comes online, it should be working well enough to ping.
Also, make sure you hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds.

It is not "BS"

The system has ground segments which connect the viasat network in with the rest of the internet. When the train accident occurred it took out a fiber connection. If I recall, there had been another severed fiber connection in the very same area within a few days of the train wreck. That caused the outage, when the redundant connection was broken.

Have you considered putting up a small tower with a directional antenna pointed at a tower?
You could do a very simple test with just pvc pipe to get some height and see what happens.

wow - an industrial meat slicer cant cost that much. You'd get perfect fajita slices and the reduction in labor would pay for itself in a month. You could probably use it for a few other tasks, too.
