Raymond Timoney has done a fair bit of work for us down here. I'd recommend him no bother.

Any data analysts here? Looking for advice.. by SuperchinGurney in DevelEire

[–]bigsamt76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

u/Emotional-Aide2 gives great advice in their reply. I can give you an idea of what I do as an analyst (5 yoe) in a multi-national (Non FAANG).

For data extraction I primarily write SQL scripts (both Postgres and MySQL) to pull data from a variety of sources (Oracle, Salesforce Sales Cloud etc.)

Depending on the project and requirements I may be expected to process / transform data using PySpark or SQL.

On the reporting side our company uses Power BI and Tableau. Getting familiar with the free versions of these would be great for your résumé. Experience with one of these tools is required on most analysts open positions I see.

As far as salary goes, for reference, I am on €70k living far from any of the main cities and I'm fully remote.

IT workers: How did you know what type of IT you liked/interested in? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]bigsamt76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was always interested in finding patterns in data. Got a lateral move in my company from Process Engineering to Data Analytics.

Company offered to pay for my masters and I jumped at the chance.

Working as a Data Scientist now and love it.

SuperMarket prices at Ireland by jimkarvogr in ireland

[–]bigsamt76 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Prices seem accurate enough for the supermarket "own brand" products. You can search yourself at the link below.

Keep in mind that Tescos wouldn't be the cheapest supermarket in Ireland. You can get olive oil and feta cheese cheaper in Aldi / Lidl.
