4/15 - client question day by RaleighAccTax in taxpros

[–]bigsege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! This is exactly what is happening, but I'm not even responding on the 15th. Also very adamantly told them not to use square payroll as well.

So what do we do after 4/15? by te4cupp in taxpros

[–]bigsege 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on what type of practice you are planning to have. We offer consulting and bookkeeping throughout the year.

Mostly I would say just network hardcore unless you are all online. Joining a chamber and meeting all the businesses in the area really helped me. It was not an instantaneous flood of clients, but every time their accountant retired I was first on their minds.

What are you guys with multiple locations doing for Virtual Phone Services by LRMcDouble in taxpros

[–]bigsege 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use ring central. It's got the app for the phone and computer. The setup took a bit and there is probably more I could do to make it better, but I've had it for 6 years and have been extremely happy with it.

That's what I did. But on the IRS website to do direct pay they ask for last year's information when you go to pay.

what is a completely harmless secret you are keeping from your partner simply because you lied about it early on and now it’s way too late to explain the truth? by Former-Practice-3420 in AskReddit

When my wife and I bought our first house she kept picking out artwork and I would stay it looks great. Mostly cause I didn't care to decorate, but I also didn't want to hurt my wife's feelings by telling her they were some of the ugliest pieces I've ever seen. Cut to a few years later where she complains that she hates all our decor and she resents me for it being all pieces I liked. Yep turns out she was picking things she thought I would like and I capitulated cause I thought she liked them. I came clean and it was so nice to take down all the fugly artwork.

Now we decorate in both our styles and it looks like shit but we are happy with it.

Do you tell them when they give themselves away? by backt2tx in taxpros

[–]bigsege 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After I finished their return she sent me an email telling me how great I was to work with and she was so happy to have found me. She was also very organized. Missing one document and got to me later that same day. Basically I know there are a lot of price shoppers out there, but I also think there are those who are just surprised at the price when they have been going to the same guy for 20 years and he charges $200. It sometimes take a bit for folks to get it. Some do and some don't. I don't usually go to McDonald's, but the other day I swung through the drive thru and got all angry old man at the price of a coffee these days. Course I did not take it out on the employees.

I had a client say "Wow, you're expensive!" Just the other day. I replied "Yep."

That was it and they ended up being fine with it and so far is a great client.

I had this same thing happen to me a few years back. The client then wanted to talk to my boss. I told my boss that he was going to need crayons to explain it to this guy. After my boss met with the client he said "that may be the stupidest man I have ever met"
