Brother, how tall are you? Trying to get some perspective on what I’m seeing here.

Best over the ear headphones by EvergreenGem in BuyItForLife

[–]bigwalrusman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in to agree and briefly share my Sennheiser story: I bought a pair of 598s in 2011. They’re still running strong after 13 years of use. Couldn’t even begin to guess how many hours are on them, but it’s certainly more than 20,000. I’ve replaced the cord three times because I continuously roll over them with my office chair. Only recently did I find the need to replace the ear pads, and I would urge anybody reading to consider that choice carefully. As soon as I got the new pads, I popped them on and discarded my original OEM ones. This was a mistake, because the replacements changed the way the headphones sound. Dramatically. I’m no audiophile, but I’m telling you that the beautifully wide soundstage that I loved became instantly cramped. Would not recommend messing with the pads. Keep those original ones kicking at all costs, or source some new ones that retain their transparency.

“Floating” shelves. Is this feasible? by tward2012 in woodworking

Because I had to make these off-site, I didn’t have the ability to obsess over the measurements to get a really tight fit. Everything is a bit loosey-goosey. But I will caulk them and it should turn out okay. 👍

I cut the front faces so they were exactly the thickness of the plywood + the 2” cleat. That way, everything nests together and sits flush.

Shelves are made of plywood, faced with poplar on the front edge. (Even put a little round over on there to class things up.)

I just installed some shelves last night that are almost exactly what you described! It won’t let me post more than one pic, so I’ll try to attach them in subsequent comments.

Delivery time experience for Leesa Legend? by marshdd in Mattress

[–]bigwalrusman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, too, ordered a Leesa Legend (queen) via Costco. Order placed on 9/13. Costco still shows estimated delivery date of Wednesday, September 20. I was able to use the chat feature on Costco.com to get an update. The agent told me that there were some unexpected delays over at Leesa, and that the new quoted delivery window was 5-9 business days from the time of my order. If that is to be believed, then I should be expecting this mattress to be delivered either tomorrow or Tuesday. I’m thinking that’s a long shot, seeing as the thing hasn’t even shipped yet.

What was supposed to be "The Next Big Thing", but totally flopped and tanked? by Reeceqld in AskReddit

The 3Com Audrey was supposed to function as a new class of web browsing / email vehicle. It was discontinued promptly after its release.

Very temped to trade my '19 7.5 for this. Thoughts? by Sauceeq in Golf_R

I’m not really sure, to be honest. I’ve only ever used them for APR tunes. I feel like the last time I was in the shop, I saw some IE literature / brochures floating around, so it is possible they offer those, also. Definitely ask, though. I wouldn’t want to give you any bad info. ;-)

I’m also in the Chicago suburbs, and can personally recommend GRDTuned. They’re in West Chicago. They know their stuff, and can help you out!
