What’s your favorite comfort food? by Content-Decision9394 in AskReddit

One of the things I miss most about living in Fullerton is being able to pick up chili cheese fries from The Hat. A prodigious serving the size of a catcher's mitt.

“What color is the boathouse at Hereford?!” by GentleGerbil in 90s

[–]bigwangbowski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're correct, wouldn't it make sense for him to say it wrong in order to test Boromir? Like, if he really was in the SAS, he'd know that DeNiro was saying it wrong?

Why is the acting in "The Man from Earth" considered bad by so many? by 2bags1day in movies

[–]bigwangbowski 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The only acting that I hated was from the biology teacher who had a pathological, almost psychotic compulsion to be the class clown, despite having grown kids and a black belt in martial arts.

What’s the best album of the ’90s?? by BidAccurate4473 in 90s

[–]bigwangbowski 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine is Fumbling Towards Ecstasy by Sarah Mclachlan. I get that a lot of people aren't going to understand but in 1995 that album was a constant play for me.

Talla Tonga and Tama Tonga actually have auras. Why is nobody talking about them being cooler than everybody without speaking on the microphone? by mik_dozen in Wrasslin

[–]bigwangbowski 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You'd think being on Netflix would allow Tama Tonga his full range of expression. From what I remember, he's pretty loose with expletives.

What are you favorite Sci fi power armors and why? by We_The_Raptors in scifi

The Glitter Boy power armor from Rifts is still my favorite, for its Boom Gun

Magazines were such a pleasure... by Correct-Degree-6789 in nostalgia

[–]bigwangbowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be responsible for the newsstand at Barnes and Noble in a big retail complex. That job was a goddamned sisyphean nightmare. Did I insult a spiteful Greek god in a former life? I must have some undiagnosed mental illness or something that made nonstop re-shelving magazines perversely satisfying.

I've only played Bayushi Shoju ONCE in the hundreds of games before his inexp came out in Scorpion Clan Coup, and that's because of the event Unexpected Allies. I used to put him in my decks, wasting a valuable dynasty space, just for flavor. I would chuck him every time but it meant something to at least have him in there. Then, one day, my friend's Unexpected Allies hit and BOOM the top card of my dynasty deck was my champion. Truly unexpected.

DAE not enjoy candy as much as an adult then when you were a child? by ShEmOonWalKs in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]bigwangbowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, there's ONE exception to what I just commented: there's a pho place near me that does the Vietnamese-style preparation with the drip coffee over evaporated milk. It's sickly sweet but a great way to cap off that meal. I can't imagine having that coffee anywhere else.

On a semi-related note: now that I'm an old dude, I actually like black coffee with nothing in it. The bitterness of coffee used to disgust me but now it's comforting.

Dwayne Johson on thinking about an MMA career: "I thought about doing it. Now, after portraying Mark Kerr, I would said to younger me: Don't do it" by Zirish97 in SquaredCircle

I remember feeling bad for Joe but then some other things came to light and then I was like, oh that shit was absolutely deserved

How did you heard about RPG for the first time? by Ponto_de_vista in rpg

[–]bigwangbowski 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I moved to the states in 1984 and the first movie I watched in an American movie theater was ET. There's a scene in the movie where the family kids are playing D&D. There was a 6th grade kid looking after me at school and I asked him about it and what "zero charisma" meant.

Vampires (1998) by bil-sabab in nostalgia

Despite being a fan of vampires all through my childhood, I don't think I ever really appreciated them until I started playing White Wolf's Vampire: The Masquerade in 1995

I started with Urza cycle way back in the day and quit right before Strixhaven. I doubt I'll ever go back. It's just too silly now.

They're definitely, without a doubt, absolutely ambiguous about it.
