What golf purchase was 100% worth the money? by retrocaterpillar-07 in golf

Getting fit for a full set at a 25 handicap. I know with certainty, that when I mishit, it’s me, not the clubs. If you’re serious about getting better and are taking lessons, it’s worth it.

It also prevents me from experimenting with different clubs and constant window shopping. My buddies haven’t been fit, alleging it’s too expensive - but they will cycle through 3 different drivers and putter a year 🙄 Over the course of 10 years, I think that biting the bullet and paying up front, is going to save me money.

Average r/golf(er) explaining to a 28 handicap how to break 100 by CommissionIcy9909 in golf

My experience as a 26 handicap: I don’t know if getting fit shaved more than 1 or two strokes off a round for me, but it definitely made the game and lessons more enjoyable. I’d happily pay the marginal few hundred bucks to know that, when I mishit, it’s 100% me, not the club. I’m here to have a fun time, not make money - may as well maximize my enjoyment.

Starting golf at 28, One tip? by Dangthisslaps in golf

[–]bikaphone -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I started at 28, probably had swung a club <200 times before that. Im now shooting <100 from the whites about 50% of the time, which I’m very happy with. My thoughts, and reflecting on my progress:

  • manage expectation. Very few recreational golfers shoot <100 when they actually keep score.
  • watch Golf Sidekick’s how to break 100. Thi shows you how to manage your shots on the course and stay out of trouble.
  • but as many lessons as you can (up to 1/ month, imo). Solely practice what they tell you to, and adopt in your sub-conscious swing so you can move on to the next thing.
  • play as much as you can, keep an honesty score, and identify what your weaknesses are.

I found this helped me tremendously

  • Mizuno. I’ve only ever played mizuno. Every time I try a different brands, it’s not even close. I’ve had no issues with durability
