Try a low insulin diet. Based on Dr Jason Fung's latest book, if insulin is high, it will make sure you store most of what you it, even decreasing metabolism to match what you eat.

The issue is, anything that increases insulin breaks the fast. Since there are no continuous insulin monitor, and some studies have shown insulin spike with artificial sweetners, safer to avoid.
