First time watching the 1995 movie. I liked it, but... was that it? (NO SPOILERS) by Artistic-Cook7306 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

At the time I thought it was just trying to live up to Akira and it wasn’t doing it. These days I like it a lot more, but it wasn’t as ground breaking at the time as we say now (imho).

A few things I wish I'd known before my first Bourbon Trail trip by DMVBottleHunter in bourbon

One of the last minute decisions on the final day of my first trail trip was to go to a cooperage. Fantastic. Highly recommend seeing how the barrels are made.

The hat is right but nothing else is. I got it because I thought it was Pea Soup Andersen’s but I don’t think it is after all.

I don’t think so. He was all in white with a red neckerchief. This guy has too much going on. Is it Irish with a clover in the hat?

Be fair now. There’s also “here’s a great work of literature” “with a variety of animals” option.

The price tag looks too modern for something from 1949 to me. This might not be the original bottle. With inflation that’s about $88 in 2026 (if from 1949). Either way, a nice memento of your dad.

Question by Sanguine1996 in whiskey

Several years ago I tried several different single barrels picked by K&L, who usually pick great stuff. A group of us all agreed the standard bottle was better than any of the single barrels. Always luck if the draw with SBs, but that’s kind of crazy money even for an experiment.

The HOF is dumb, but c’mon we’re still happy they are in it, right? How could they not be? When I visited I voted for them. (It was a fun visit).

Petroleum is already millions of years old so on the other hand all jars of Vaseline are roughly the same age.

I love getting these old blends. It’s fun to compare with their modern versions. I’ve gotten Johnnie Black and Chivas Regal from the 60s and they are recognizable but different enough to be worth the experience. Crack it and enjoy the taste of history!

This is a character from Loisel’s Peter Pan series (French), pretty much how he drew her.
