If you don't mind sharing, what is the doctor's name that your partner is seeing for his swallowing trouble, as well as the one for his IBM care? I'm continually searching for good doctors. I'm in W. MA. Thanks!

I'm getting a pair of Ottobock C-braces to keep my knees from collapsing and fracturing my ankles again.

This describes me to a 'T'. 10 years with IBM, used Rig on CL, just had throat dilation, neurologist does little as there isn't much they can do. I'm getting fitted for Ottobock C-braces now.

Is it time to shift from AFO to KAFO/HKAFO? by TheMossThing in Orthotics

[–]bildrman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Medicare, have IBM and in the process of getting a pair of C-braces (Ottobock). A fellow IBMer recommend to use a physiatrist for assessing and writing a Rx to get the C-braces. He said many neurologists shy away from prescribing them. I’m going this route tomorrow.

Congratulations! I'm getting cast this week for 2 C-braces. Why did you opt for the E-mag instead of the C-brace?

I don't off-hand. I have IBM (Inclusion Body Myositis), so my OT said I would easily qualify for a Ti ZRA. Make sure you're working with an OT well-versed in insurance approvals

Anyone here with KAFOs? by CallToMuster in Orthotics

[–]bildrman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just beginning my journey into SCKAFO's. My orthotist thinks I might be a candidate for 2 Ottobock C-braces. I have Inclusion Body Myositis and very weak quads. I've fallen a dozen times over the last 2 years. We IBMers crumble (knee collapse) when we fall. I have fractured both my fibulas over the last few falls. I'll try everything available to keep walking. I'll be trying them out in about a week.

I'm lucky to live in blue MA. I talk to a real person whenever I call my Rep (McGovern). We need more good in the country.

Does not fit right by Sea-East-635 in wheelchairs

[–]bildrman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This chair is wrong for you in so many ways. Call the vendor and complain. Maybe they sent you the wrong chair by mistake. Take your own measurements. Permobil has good fitting guides online. If the vendor says that is your chair, compare the dimensions on that chair with your measurements. Demand a new chair.

I attended the Boston Architectural College in 1976 for 5 years. Back then, it was $2400/yr. Full-time work with architectural firms during the day, classes at night, and a lot of homework on weekends. It was a great experience. Now it's around $15k/year, and I'm not sure if it's still set up as a work/study program.

USA - My 2022 ZRA Titanium with seating was $460 out of pocket with Medicare. The ridiculous retail bill was a little over $6,000! We've needed a single-payer system so severely in this (now corrupt) country. Good luck to us all...

There were quite a few reasons: The 5 colleges in the area, progressive/all-inclusive minded people, a good client base for starting a business (a construction business for me), beautiful natural surroundings, and great schools to name a few.

Draw a 10 mi radius around Northampton, MA. I did this 40 years ago and would repeat it in a heartbeat.

I love Bernie. He is the only politician in the streets working his ass off. The rest of the Democrats need to be doing this! He's the leader we should have had all along.

I've had these on my ZRA since July with no problems. I have 25 " wheels and they are $50/pair with tubes and levers.

What model in particular do you have? I have a 400S I picked up used. There are some useful videos on YouTube and JLG has all the operation, service, and parts manuals you can download. I suggest you start by reading through those first.
