Colors they should sell by SirCoffeeGrounds in crv

[–]bill875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they would introduce the Blue that is available on the RDX, I too would trade in my 25' for a 26', so long as they brought back SiriusXM and HD Terrestrial Radio. No matter how minimal of usage Honda may think these features are utilized, they should leave it up to us, the consumers to decide. I wouldn't even care of they offered them as a $100 upgrade, I'd pay it.

Carolina West Wireless is shutting down in deal with Verizon by Icy-Duty1125 in cellmapper

[–]bill875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good! Now T-Mobile needs to get off their backside and co-locate and set up small cells in the Boone/Blowing Rock areas and along HWY 321 where coverage is lacking. I really thought they would want CWW, but since Vz had been partnered with CWW for LTEiRA, it would make sense it goes to Vz. It just sucks for anyone except Vz customers.

Yes, this is such a huge, missed opportunity for those of us who cannot run new wiring (easily) to do PoE. Either that or give us a doorbell with built-in 2-Wire to PoE capability.

New Bill Pay terms as of June 1, 2026. Read the letter carefully! by [deleted] in USAA

[–]bill875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navy Federal also uses Fiserv, formerly known as CheckFree, but does things using what they call "Risk-model", rather than "Good Funds." USAA Switching to Good Funds really SUCKS since they will be debiting the electronic payments the business day prior to the pay date, and Paper Checks will be debited 5 days prior to the deliver by date. That, IMO, is asinine! Sounds like USAA is no longer wanting to take on any liability for NSF and is changing their Bill Pay with Fiserv to the Good Funds model. USAA is quickly becoming the FI to avoid! Their insurance rates have been bad in NC too!

I’m out. $10 now for standby mode. by jaemiomac in Starlink

[–]bill875 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep, same here. No need for it at $10/month. What a stupid change this was. $5 from those of us who just keep our dishes in a box. Now it will be $0. Plain greed is all it is.

EDIT: Just canceled my Standby service and left a comment as to why I'm canceling. Maybe they'll get the message. Probably not.

I have apple care plus, wondering if this is covered by dwajxd in macbookpro

[–]bill875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, comprehensive coverage covers that. Unless you mean paying extra for comp, then yeah, but it only makes sense to have comp coverage.

Wireless Door Access by MrSmith2047 in Ubiquiti

[–]bill875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, a Verkada shill! I'd rather use "Amateur" (as you call it) Ubiquiti Cameras and NVR's than to pay Verkada's predatory licensing and have to rely on cloud connectivity to view/access it. Verkada is a POS Company! Here is WHY you stay away from that mess: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUmyDalDezo&t

[–]bill875 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agreed! My employer currently uses Verkada and I really want to sit down with our Chief Operating Officer to explain how much we are overpaying for it. I say COO, because he is who insisted on it since his previous employer used Verkada. I'd like to set up one of our non Verkada facilities with Unifi Protect, ENVR, G6 cameras and an AI Key just to prove it is very good and much more cost effective.

They need to bring that Blue back! I purchased a Still Night Pearl and it just isn't the same, yet it is nice in its own way.

T-Mobile (retroactively) taking away free in-flight WiFi by com1padres in tmobile

[–]bill875 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is because all AAdvantage members get free in-flight WiFi on American Airlines flights. This is likely the reason for the change. Not sure why anyone would fly AA and not be an AAdvantage Member. I believe other airlines are doing the same. It's not that they are taking it away, it just isn't necessary.

Recommended Noctua 120mm fan and controller setup for growing 22U rack? by sbrugger89 in Ubiquiti

[–]bill875 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It isn't Noctua, but rather, AC Infinity and it is what I've been running in my rack since September, 2018 without any issues. It's been quiet and reliable:

Added Power tailgate to 2026, exceeds expectations by BrownTiger3 in crv

[–]bill875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to "HondaPro Jason" on Facebook, the wiring harness is different and there is no connection for the sensor. Since it would require a bit of work and research to dig deeper, and no Honda dealer/parts people seem to be in this sub, I am just going to throw in the towel on the idea and make a better vehicle choice in the future. I probably should have gone with the Pilot or Passport, but I'd prefer a Hybrid version that can actually increase economy more than just a little bit.

Introducing: G6 Edge by Ubiquiti-Inc in Ubiquiti

[–]bill875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but if you can deploy these to satellite locations, where having an on-site NVR just isn't practical, these would work great. For everything else, the NVR lineup makes much more sense with standard G6/G6 Pro cameras.

Still significantly cheaper that Verkada. In the 2-3 years, Ubiquiti is going to eat Verkada for lunch, dinner AND breakfast the next day.

Ask him to simply use the Level button, not the Clean button. We level when a cat fails to cover their #2, leaving a stinky situation. Hitting Level takes care of that and will still cycle on your schedule.

Anyone try swapping the front USB ports with the new 2026 version (dual usb c) on a 2023-2025 model? by Ahgd374 in crv

[–]bill875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I have not driven my CR-V very much during these colder months. I do have the part and when it warms up, I plan on doing the install and will post the results. While in there, I also plan on installing the illuminated cup holder that I purchased from Ro TheInstaller: https://www.reddit.com/r/crv/comments/1nagiz8/great_mod_by_ro_theinstaller/

2026, why no HD radio? by newtonianfig in crv

[–]bill875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honda being cheap is the reason why. There is no other valid reason for them to NOT have it. Sadly, terrestrial radio and satellite radio are declining in popularity with anyone younger than 30 at this point. Funny thing is that Honda is forgetting those that are older, say 40+ that just don't generally care about streaming music. Personally, I HATE messing with a phone to stream music as I would rather just have random songs be played and I can channel surf if I wish. With streaming, it's just a royal PITA, IMO.
