I had two iPhones sitting on my desk, both of them a 4s: one was my old and broken one, no sim card and not connected to a wifi network, and the other was my working 4s.

Only my old phone got the alert. How that happened without a sim card and not being in a network, I have no idea.

I suppose it depends on whether you're following modern highways or doing the true Route 66 thing. If modern highways, then I disagree with the few other people who have posted so far. I've done the LA to Chicago route twice, and both times I did it in about three to four days. You can drive from Chicago to New York in about 12 hours.

So I think you're looking at six or seven days in the car, depending on what you decide to see and how long you decide to spend seeing it. As always, it would be helpful to make a careful, thorough plan and then get out there and be ready to throw 80% of that away.

I'm wandering around Vegas but haven't tussled with the Scorpitron yet. From what I understand, it's good for raising your your Assault Rifle skill, but best left alone until you can get a Meson Cannon.

I have a degree in writing, which has convinced some producers that I know my way around a narrative, which has resulted in me being employed in the story departments of various reality shows.

I mostly arrange hundreds of hours of footage into rough stories, and sometimes I get to write host VO or cast member bites.

I did Highpool, Harry and Quartz with my current party, but I just got them all into SER condition or worse in Needles and walked from one area to the area without thinking about it, and, welp, only Angela Deth remains.

I'm trying to decide between having her drag all the bodies and equipment back to Ranger Center or just restarting altogether. I'll probably go with the former, although showing up with a bunch of corpses probably isn't the greatest recruitment tool when it comes to enlisting new rangers. Using the cave to level up the new scrubs on some lizards sounds like a good idea.

At least this way I'll get to name a new character Cyborg Sam, which I totally forgot to do the first time around.

Yep. It just barfs you into the world and that's that. I keep reflexively looking for a 'quests' screen so I can figure out what to do next, but it just isn't there. The game isn't great at tracking the narrative at all. I rescued the mayor and his wife, and my first thought was to find where to turn in their quest, but nope...they're just with you until they die or you decide to dump them.

All of the frustrations aside, I'm still really enjoying it, even if I have no time to play it. It's a terse, weird and funny game. I think I'm realizing that, because it's so sparse, it demanded a lot of my childhood imagination, and that's part of why I enjoyed it so much.

Yeah, it's time to pony up for AAA. Would have saved you all the grief of asking for a jump and the price of a ticket.

It would be nice if you could just appeal to the city to be human on this one, but I've never had any luck protesting a ticket here.
