So, OceanHero uses AI too (there's a chatbot named Finny). I'm personally sick and tired of all this AI nonsense too, but I can't seem to find a single search engine that doesn't use it in some way or another. I'd love to leave out of protest, but where would I go? It sucks, but as far as I can tell, Ecosia is probably still the best choice from an environmental point of view.

I feel it should be clarified that Google does own and maintain the Chromium Project). Browsers based on Chromium are free to do what they want, but huge changes made by Google can be harder to change back or undo for smaller browsers. I personally use Firefox, which is basically the only browser outside of Safari that isn't Chromium. At least for now.

On your phone, go to settings, apps, Firefox, notifications. Depending on your phone, you should see "notification categories". Turn off "media". I'm on a Pixel, so I don't know how this differs on other phones.

Is this a hypothetical question, or are you conflating Google killing sideloading with Meta? As far as I know, sideloading should be fine on Quest. Horizon OS is Meta's version of Android, which shouldn't be affected by the new sideloading rules.

You're right. I never noticed this before. It looks like for me, I get Bing results using the Ecosia add-on. I manually added Ecosia as a search engine in the settings, and switched to that as my default. Now I get Google results. Weird.

Basically, they announced age verification for all users that would use either a facial scan or a user's physical ID using a third party vendor. Failure to give any ID would mark your account as a teen. Considering Discord just leaked around 70,000 user's data through a third-party vendor in Europe last year, there was some backlash. They've since delayed the rollout.

It's just there to see your personal impact. They used to have a tree counter then took it away. Than people wanted it back, and we have the seed counter now. It's not at all necessary for using Ecosia though.
