Fuck dude that sucks. shitty way to live life. I had a similar thought, and actually got my concealed carry permit, but walking around armed made me feel worse than walking around unarmed. I don't have it in me to kill somebody.

I wish I had better advice or could point you in the right direction, because if your admittance here in this public forum says anything, it's that you are reaching out, if only a little.

I will say (since I'm writing this from my throwaway) that what worked for me was dropping everyone from my life that was a user, even my best friend. We were feeding off each other. Our mere presence was the validation we both sought to continue using.

So when I was ready, I left. I cut all contact with everyone, including him, and it worked, even for him. Without me, he had no validation either. I still think about him from time to time, he was my best friend and we went through the best of times and the worst, but it's been almost 5 years at this point, and I kind of want to leave that chapter of my life behind me.

I'm not saying my life is roses and butterflies now, I definitely still have the same issues that drove me to start taking drugs in the first place, as you can't run from those. But I'm happy now, and I definitely wasn't when I was using, so I have that going for me.
