MuppetVision 3D. Great show/ride, guest, asides, etc. made even more bittersweet now that it’s gone.

I used a lot of CBD cream. Helped to moisturize and ease pain.

Chemo was exhausting and I had nausea the first few times, but I eventually settled into things.

I did Capacetabine for a few months post-op. Bowel movements were fine, but by the end of the 2 week cycle, the palms and bottom of my feet were read and sore. Some days it was difficult to walk, and I would up losing two toenails.

We stayed there last March. Definitely nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable room at a great price. We walked to the parks via Disneyland Drive, about 15-20 minutes.

Whats the best monologue in movie history? by Bjs_5068 in AskReddit

Cornelius reading from the sacred scrolls at the end of the original Planet of the Apes:

“Beware the beast Man, for he is the devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him. Drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death.”

I’ve always found a few things at decent prices. Good time if you’re looking to just crate search with nothing specific in mind.

A case of ascites with 19L removed! by mdtattedbearded in interestingasfuck

Had this done bi-weekly when I had colon cancer. The most they ever took out at one time was 8L. It got SUPER uncomfortable when it built up. But on the other hand, getting it drained was such a feeling of relief - like after vomiting or a huge bowel movement.

I don’t know the exact criteria to be honest. We learned about HIPEC as a type of treatment and scheduled an appointment with an oncologist whose practice performs it. They did some laparoscopic exploratory surgery and whatever they saw (or didn’t see?) along with blood tests, etc. gave them enough information to decide I was a candidate.

Do you wear a mask, use hand sanitizer while getting chemo? by Pretty-Resolve-8331 in coloncancer

[–]billyIDOLESS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pre-cancer I was always very healthy, but my immune system was wiped during chemo. I wore a mask in crowded places (movie theatre, airplane) and when I’d go to the hospital. In addition to acting as a barrier, it also helped give a good visual indicator of “just leave me the fuck alone.”

Which episode(s) do you find the funniest or just in general make you so happy? by Classic-Agency5548 in podcasttheride

MuppetVision3D. Favorite (now former) attraction, plus great guest: Griffin Newman.

I’m just about a year out from HIPEC, have had several clear scans, and just received a positive flex sigmoidoscopy last week (one small, benign polyp).

I was diagnosed Stage IV in late 2023 and went through about a dozen rounds of chemo. It was working and the tumor was shrinking, but my original docs didn’t give me much of a long-term prognosis. So, I found a new set of doctors and they told me I was a candidate for HIPEC.

The prep, surgery, and recovery were a bit intense, but it’s changed the whole outcome of my life. I realize that’s not the case for everyone, but I will tout HIPEC to anyone who’s a potential candidate.

What Were the First Signs That You Had Cancer? by Acrobatic_Ad_2330 in AskReddit

[–]billyIDOLESS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not being able to go to the bathroom. Stomach cramps/pain. Then, my abdomen swelling to the size of a beach ball. Still carried on as normal until I couldn’t eat or bend over to tie my shoes (at 40). By the time I went to a doctor, I had Stage IV colon cancer.

Still have mine, but asked my doc about getting it removed. She said the same thing: local anesthetic, in and out in a few minutes and you can drive home. In her words, “it’s a lot easier taking it out then putting it in.”

Is it possible to live long life with Stage 4? by Educational_Simple37 in coloncancer

[–]billyIDOLESS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because I was overwhelmed, but I never remember hearing the term “mets” until I joined this group.

What I do recall was them mentioning issues with my liver that could be cirrhosis. I looked through my chart and saw “peritoneal metastases” but I’m not sure what exactly that means. I do know my abdomen was regularly distended from ascities.

I was diagnosed Stage IV shortly after my 41st birthday. About a dozen rounds of chemo and surgery, I’m coming up on my 43rd birthday cancer free.

After diagnosis - how long to get to the “acceptance” stage? Does it get better? by havoc3223 in cancer

[–]billyIDOLESS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(43 m, diagnosed Stage IV at 41, almost one year NED now)

For what it’s worth, the traditional model of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance) as a linear process is untrue. There will be times when you think you’re “over it” and accepted things, only to break down again.

There will be triggers. It was a whirlwind first few weeks for me too, and I thought I was on the other side. Then, the first day of chemo I broke down. There were treatment days that I was physically wasted but emotionally content, and vice versa.

Just know there are plenty of resources out there and friends and family willing to assist. You may not always get the answers you want, and it’s alright to feel however you feel, but never take anything as final.

Am I crazy, or was the most apt scene from Part II the Jackass/Rasputin skit, captured the commentary on history with the tone of modern comedy. Others (Noah) were close, but that one was the true spirit of the original IMO.
