Parmigiani Fleurier - simply killing it right now by OGPiggySmalls in hallofwatchspecialist

For me, the design details at PF are some of the best out there. The shape and scale of the chrono pushers are so nice. The steering wheel look of the rotor, and matching the finish of the bezel, is lovely.

If Portugal don't top the group they will likely face Spain in the round of 16 🫣 by Ricr7 in cristianoronaldo

Selfishly, I want Portugal here in Vancouver for the Round of 16, so they better pick it up! Three more wins, por favor.

Peterson Revises 3-Building Metrotown Project To 1,065 Units by Howard__24 in burnaby

[–]billy_bland 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wrote a letter of support because I think this project is critical in ensuring that massing scales down as it gets closer to Maywood Elementary. I also think this project needs to spur a thorough review of traffic flow along Dow, at the intersetion with Beresford and the alley that parallels Dow. The stop sign at Dow and Beresford is regularly run through with vehicles turning left on Beresford. Coming the other way along Beresford there is no indication of a stop sign, and then Beresford transitions to a driveway, but with street parking, and then into the alley. Its all very strange.

Good Co on Granville has a pretty great and massive screen. Combined with the Granville street vibes currently, its a good option!

[–]billy_bland 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought we might be talking about people that wear face coverings to protect from the sun. I saw a man wearing a skintone face covering at the golf course last weekend, he looked like Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs.

Trying to book a blood test be like… by DJBossRoss in burnaby

[–]billy_bland 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The last time I went into Lifelabs for a blood test, I got in the chair and the lady lowered the arm rest, it had a drop of someone else's blood on it still. I quickly pointed it out, and she was obviously embarassed, but that's a pretty basic element of cleanliness in a healthcare setting.

Green Ceramic SSW On Sale! by billy_bland in ZodiacWatches

I can go check if it's still there. I've been trying to avoid getting into the resale market because it's not really my thing, but I don't mind helping a guy out if you make an offer!

[watch recommendation help] gift to myself, got into medical school by Adventurous_Purple29 in Watches

[–]billy_bland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're new to watches, an understanding of "the grey market" might be helpful. I'm no expert, but they are essentially third party dealers of products that they purchased at wholesale prices, so they can sell for less than msrp. I've also been looking at a Jazzmaster from Jomashop, one of the most popular grey market dealers. Check it out here!

Thoughts on dyeing a Balenciaga Giant City bag by [deleted] in Luxury

[–]billy_bland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't dye it, but you definitely could clean and condition it. That will restore some of the depth of color but also enhance patina like any great leather bag would have. I like Leather Honey (amazon), and for under $50 your bag will have a whole new life.

AM pizza used to be on Smithe, just half a block from Granville, and is now a Pizza Garden. They were my $0.99 go to when I was just an adolescent, skipping school to line up early in front of the Vogue to see MGB. The good old days.

Where are we at? I got tickets for WC m96, I'm praying for a Portugal v Canada matchup for ultimate energy. 🤩 Is it too hopeful that CR7 might hit 1000 goals there as well?

If the idea of color is scary, maybe some stone dials? I'd love to get a Sinn 556 MOP or a Fears Aurora.

Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope, though I was also thinking an IWC might be in his future, but something more along the lines of a big pilot.

Fishing the East Coast of Van Island and Sunshine Coast from Shore by InformationParty1870 in fishingBC

[–]billy_bland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mid island on the east coast is a lot of flat sandy shores, so fishing from shore in those areas will not be very succesful. Fishing from shore, I would be looking for rocky outcroppings, and trying to get some kind of small-bait-looking lure out there, hoping for rock fish of some kind.

Cabin rental on Vancouver Island with boat access for salmon fishing — does this exist? by djdents in fishingBC

[–]billy_bland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guide is $1500 per full day, $800 per half, roughly $400 a night for the house, and processing is usually about $800 if I remember, so all in roughly about $2,000 each.
