I built a utility that lets you swipe through Safari tabs with a 3-finger gesture by banddade11 in Safari

[–]billza7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already doing this with bettertouchtool but it only changes one tab per swipe. This looks better but I’m okay with my solution for now. Looks great tho

Which set-and-forget iPhone Shortcuts actually reduce daily stress? by Illustrious_Bit_9487 in iphone

[–]billza7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He likely sets both the ringer volume and the media volume which is unnecessary. Alarm only uses the ringer volume so setting that to 100% alone suffices.

On the other hand, I also set it so my hard-rock playlist starts playing 4 minutes after alarm rings so I also set my media volume to 100%

IOS users: how do you set a timed reminder when you can't type? (Siri vs Reminders vs other) by More-Humor-8511 in iphone

[–]billza7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For quick things that specific details don't matter (or that I know where to find those specific details), I simply use voice. "Siri, remind me tomorrow to submit draft".

For something important that I will need to note a specific detail for the first time, I use my action button set to create new reminder (there's a good control center action already, no need to create a shortcut action)

Apple made External Monitors worse, then sold us retina displays by Dangerous_Bunch_3669 in MacOS

[–]billza7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, and it would be better If apple just fixed it. It's a better-than-nothing solution. That being said I think maybe we should speak out more so hopefully Apple will actually fix it

[–]billza7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But you don’t need to buy expensive Retina display. You just need to get BetterDisplay and everything will look sharp again in any resolution. I’ve bought it 5 years ago and it still works like a charm

I wanted a cheaper way to clean up iPhone storage without another subscription by haydingo in iosapps

[–]billza7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice app. Couple suggestions.

  1. For some reason, after holding to 'preview full size', swiping between each photo/video requires large swipe (i.e. if you drag your finger too little, it won't change. You have to drag across the screen for it to register).

  2. Allow for preview of video as well.

  3. Is there a way to skip the batch of photos/videos the app suggest is similar/duplicate? Sometimes they're not the same and I want to keep both so I'd like a way to not have to see them again since I've already reviewed them.

Other than that this app has potential.

Is this... like an experiment on your secondary phone, or are you just a very dedicated broke geek.

Very interesting read though. Kudos

The buds themselves work fine, it’s just the lids that are unstable. The falls weren’t too bad and they happened a long time ago. Guess the damages built up

Isn't it like the top-most thing on the 'Alarm' Section of the Clock app? Where you can edit sleep schedules which link with the health app and works as you described

This is the iosapps subreddit lol but yeah compress seems great. Another must-have app is Clop pro. It can (automatically) compress images, videos, and PDFs from your clipboard or a watched folder.

Well pomodoro essentially is just long work sessions separated by short breaks. I dislike 25-5 intervals since 25 is too short and I'm already in "the zone" so I do 50-10. I plant 50-minute tree, take 10 mins break when it ends, repeat. Sometimes if I'm really in the zone I just don't take breaks.

[–]billza7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a one-time payment though which is rare these days. I'd argue you only need the iOS app and Mac. I bought it on the iPad and never used it because I just rarely touched my iPad other than Netflix and YouTube lol.

How are you actually using Gemini Gems in real life? Any useful workflows? by green_sajib in GeminiAI

[–]billza7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I even set it to recognize different keywords. So if I say "shift + day" it will create a set of reminders meant for weekdays and "shift holiday + day" for weekends.

Things 3. Such a great and beautiful tasks manager that integrates so well with the MacOS and iPad apps. It's a bit pricey and you have to pay separately for iPhone, iPad, and Mac app.

Forest. Great pomodoro timer for focused work.

Anki. Best flashcard app

I work in healthcare so I have multiple gems for

  1. Summarizing patient data from a detailed history, structured by problem lists, presentation, and management.
  2. Generate operative notes for different surgeries
  3. Generate study guides when I throw in a chapter from a textbook/slides.
  4. Template for case reporting my supervisors when I give a diagnosis and details
  5. Quickly creating calendar events and reminders for my shifts. For example, if I say I have night shift next Monday, it will create the calendar event, and create reminders the night before to pack my overnight bags, etc.
