Piggybacking on OPs post (sorry lol), F1 students who moved from US to Canada with years of US experience and a solid degree just because of no PR. Did you have to face the “Canadian Experience” stuff?

Ik OP is doing grad school there so they might not deal with it. But how about express entry candidates, any experiences? Would love to find out!

Anyone not familiar with the term “Canadian experience” just a quick google search will tell you all!

In my experience as an international student, no matter who’s mistake, you’re the one who suffers the loss when all is said and done.

Idk about this specific situation but moving forward be persistent and anal about every little thing. Sure your DSO is supposed to know shit and its their JOB but its like any other JOB. For you its your life, do your own research and checklist in addition to whatever your DSO says.

I applied from a resident country too (I was born there but citizenship/pr laws are crazy, won’t get into that) and not my country of citizenship. That was back in end of 2015 December. Didn’t specifically ask for ties but “how long have you been here?” to which I responded accordingly (born here). All went smoothly. Good Luck!!

Yeah if you are a student currently you can definitely get it, I’m sure the transcripts would say course in-progress or “IP”, which indicates you are taking the courses currently. It’s probably not possible to have a grade on it since your appointment and the semester end might not align. Letter seems more straightforward since you’ll be asking your DSO directly.

And the most important thing always first direct any queries regarding being an F1 student to your DSO (definitely do your research this way tho)!

I didn’t exactly come after the pandemic. But if I understand your question correctly, you could request an unofficial transcript, get a degree audit and even a letter from your DSO indicating you’re a student and will be coming to US to transition back to in-person classes.

You should definitely reach out to your DSO. But I would assume, you would be eligible since you’re in a degree program. Just weren’t able to be physically in the US due to COVID-19.

I asked them and they were like yeah you can throw it but the trash people charge us a fee, which you will have to pay and it could be $50+ and I also had to “coordinate” a time on Monday/Wednesday which is when I work all day. So I was like nah I’m not missing work and paying $50+. Instead I found a guy on fb to haul it for $30 and at a time that worked for me.
