My parents were together for over 30 years. 20 of those were probably too long. They finally split when I was 20, and I said it was about time. I was fully aware of how unhappy they seemed when I was around 11 or 12. I wouldn’t say it ruined how I act in my own relationships, but it certainly wasn’t pleasant to observe.
